I used the horrible korda tubing in place of silicone on the hook, works a treat and its the only thing I use the stuff for.

Those oxygen tablets you get for aquariums are potassium chlorate, very strong oxidiser, toxic and not nice stuff so I don’t think it would be them. Probably some kind of base like you get in effervescent tablets like sodium bicarbonate and citric acid with a flavouring or something. Cant see the attraction personally, just another gimmic.
