  1. If you are worried about the tangling of your hooklength, but don't fancy having the rig tubing on your hooklength - you could try the following: using PVA tape - tie a length of reed / stick/ wooden cocktali or skewer stick the lenght of your hooklink.... almost like a splint. When you cast out your hooklenght with will be kept straigh even into the water - then the PVA tape will dissolve leaving the stick float away and one super straight hooklength
  2. Started using the grey 10lb hydrolink a few months ago - very impressed so far and have ordered more A very versatile hooklength !
  3. The one thing I would mention is that with a regular inline set-up you can't shed the lead at all..... which would be essential if fishing a weedy water. What size fish & what bait are you looking to be using in the weedy water? - Might help to suggest a rig then?
  4. Its to do with turning the hook over as the hookling slides over the bottom of a carp's mouth when the fish moves away from the lead and the link tightens - so the hook-point is facing downwards rather than whole hook possibly being dragged across on its side over the carp's bottom lip, failing to prick into some flesh. Try it with the "across the back of the hand" technique with rigs set up with and without the tubing..... - although this isn't an essentially accurate test (not under water for a start!) maybe it can help you see the mechanics of it..... Imagine the back of your hand is the bottom of a carp's mouth - and that the carp has sucking in your bait and hook and is moving away.... the hooklink slides across the surface and see if the shrink tube turns the hook up
  5. I think the number of top anglers that pay to have their hooks sharpened, either by Jason, or others (even though not all of them admit it ) , pays testament to the fact that this is a real edge that - if fishing for that 'one big bite' shouldn't be ignored...... I've tried - and my hooks were rubbish afterwards..... and I don;t fish for only one bite a session.... but if I was that type of angler then I would be paying real attenion to making my hooks sharper than when they come out of the pack
