  1. Its the fine stuff from korda so cant be re-threaded. ill have a look to see what shrink tube i have. cheers Nick and everyone else.
I shall not put down the wicked thoughts I have about the brand then :P8)
lol i dont have a prefered brand i just buy what i need. i must admit their rig tubing is awful, esp anchor all the way.
  2. I bought a pack of silicon but can't remember which one I had I think its this one.

    ATOMIC Rockbottom Silicone Hook/Rig Sleeving

    http://www.englandangling.co.uk/displayProduct.asp?prodCode=atoRS

    10 x 50mm lengths per pack, 0.75mm bore

P.V.C. Tubing that when placed on hook will hold hair tight to the desired position. Will not move during casting, so allowing perfect presentation every time.

I used to use normal rig tubing which split all the time then a mate put me onto this stuff. It still splits but very rarely, there seems to be a lot more flexibility in this tube. Hope this helps :D

    Massive help nice one :D
  3. No thanks not interested in blowback style, must be a type of tubing. small bore but quite thick! i suppose a hookbead could work!?

I dont do it just for the blowback style i only really do it so it keeps the hair coming off the bend but without the extra weight of tubing.

Its a good idea mate, but not for me. i like that extra weight on the hook and it stops the hair tangling, i dont mean just on the cast either. thanks anyway i might even encounter a time when i need to use it.
  4. what do you guys use to hold the hair in place on the hook? for a while now i have used a fine bore silicone tubing, but everytime i catch a carp it splits which means tying up a new rig or using a spare one. its becoming a bit annoying now. my mate said rig tubing but i find that a bit to bulky and slips too easily. any advice would be helpfull cheers.

  5. My mate has been on single grain of fake corn for nearly two years now! mainly because he his a student and cant afford to buy boilies. i always say how cheap is sweetcorn? but he has now come acustom to the fake stuff. i even witnessed it in action the other day, he casted out a single piece to showing fish just before dark, in pitch darkness a full one toner lead to a 22lb common in the net. i reckon he has the luck of the irish.

  6. Instead of starting a new thread i thought i would hijack this thread :P i went fishing wednesday to friday i picked a swim on the water temperature, but it didn't go to plan so i waited for someone to move out of a swim and i moved in. he didnt catch but i knew i had a chance so moved in anyway. i was using straight through mainline, running lead, helicopter bead and then a combi rig of around 8 inches with fluoro first. i tied the braid kd style hair on a size 6 esp curvy as i was using corked bottom baits. the hair its self was around 2 inches which is pretty long for me. i werent there long and got a run but striked into nothing and half an hour later had another run and again striked into nothing. now i switched to a standard bottom bait which i had glugging, but forgot i had a kd style hair on. would this be the course of not hooking them? they were full one toners aswell. i dont want to change to much as two runs in a short space of time is really good. especially when the bloke before me was fishing the same spot and had nothing. cheers

How did the bait come back? Crushed, whole or even none at all?

Then think about the length of the pharyngeal teeth from the lips to the back of the mouth. It could be that the bait went all the way back, but the hook didn't go into the lips. Bait was then crushed (and maybe removed), and the Hook just fell down as the hair was too long. Or it may be the opposite that the hair was too short and the fish were ejecting before the hook took hold.

In that case go play around with an extending hair cos a long hair of much above 4or5cms is a pain to cast without tangling.:lol:

As Wilfster has said Line Trailers could be a possibility as well.

Don't automatically assume the latest heavily publicised KD rig is the answer to everything. It may be a case of go back to basics. The KD rig because of how the hair leaves the hook could be the problem.

In the link above there is a lovely pic of hair attachments to the hook

Compare that to how the hair leaves the hook with a KD rig, and then consider that the hook may actually end up turning totally the wrong way

they were coming back whole. i have been thinking of tying the hair to the hook as i doubt hardly anyone does that anymore.

  8. i want to use braid for a reason :D are you sure feathering it will help? surely when it hits the water the lead will always go first and boilie just lands on top of it? is there any product i can put in the pva that just dissapears in water after a short time? cheers

  9. Fry a few pieces of luncheon meat before you go fishing and use them as your hookbait. frying them will make them tougher when hair rigging them. i use running rigs for the majority of my fishing defently the safer option and simple to set up .

  10. I use one piece of pop up corn on a kd style hair fished with a size 6 raptor curvy. the hook point is just resting on the lake bed ready to strike :D had a couple of twenty's on it wednesday evening. mainly use it as a single bait, nails them everytime! 8)

  11. I meant using braided mainline straight through. sorry should of made that clearer. the tubing is coming back whole but with little cuts in it, thats why i thought about using leadcore. i know how to use it safely, its just i don't want to leave abrasion marks on the fish. i might use a long hooklink so the fish doesn't come into contact with it. whats this knot Keith? can i find it through a search?

If your tubing is coming back whole, but with small marks in then it is doing its job!

If you use a long hooklink then a Heli arrangement may well not be the best set-up. If that means that you have to use a Semi-Fixed or Running set-up then Leadcore is NOT an option.

I've actually fished a couple of venues knowing that with snags (mussel covered branches and gravel) I needed to use 2 metres of Tubing to prevent problems. The best tubing I found to avoid being cut up was Armourtube, think it is now sold by Solar, although as with all tubing the threading may cause you grief.

not sure what you mean with the heli set up and long hooklinks? have used them in the past with no proplems.

  13. The only reason i'm considering using it is because i'm fishing the back of a bar/really sharp objects :? even the tubing has come back with cuts in it! i was thinking a snag leader, but they are braid! isn't braid worse than leadcore when wet? as they say dont use mainline straight through!
