I was just after the total number of fish in the lake really rather than proportions as carpmadsmurf illustrated, so I could get a better idea of what kind of lake i'm looking at. Cheers in advance.

What are you talking in terms of overall quantity of carp? I can't find anything on their info sites.

I have never dabbled with this idea myself (although it certainly sounds effective) but there is an article about it in the latest issue of crafty carper if you fancy it.
