  1. Well that's fishing....I guess just bad luck, the carp on the specimen lake seem to really like the cell I'm not a massive fan myself but they seem to work for me and a few others I fish with, double 18mm as well so that's what we use, when the weather sorts it self out and things start to level out, head backdown there, the old lake that's the one under the bridge.....I've not fished it but the new lake me and my son fish it, some good fun to be had fishing floaters and zigging my little lad had fish up to 17lb form that lake was a mirror as well as they are mostly commons in all lakes. Don't give up on it, they are very good lakes.Yeah the swims are not very good but I don't go there because they have nice swims its the fish we go for. Good luck for next time let us know if you go again and how you get on.....
  2. I've fished nellbridge plenty of times and caught plenty of fish out of the specimen lake, I've had fish up to 25lb . I don't know how you fish but if you only spent half a day on the lake not really a fair test now.... Give it another go after the weather has warmed up....it does get incredibly busy at a weekend.
  3. hi all , was woundering if any one had any up to date info on pickford lake in oxford.
  4. best lake on the complex im my opion, lot of water to your self swim 10 is my fav.
  5. hunts conner a bit more expencive but their is only 10 swims on the water so each swim you have a lot of water to your self no chance of casting to other peoples area . all methods and all baits work well on all of the lakes , but their are very pressured waters so ring in the changes can get you that extra bite. but if the fish are having it then you could have the best session of your life water are very clear so keep every thing pinned down. brasenose 1: if their is a lot of anglers on then the fish do tend to go in to the middle of the lake and at around 32 acres its a bit of a chuck.
  6. i was down last weekend and had a walk round oxlease be for fishing hunts. they done some weed cutting a few weeks ago and their was a hellava a lot of on the surface and the wind was blowing a bit of a holligun didnt look to promising to me. hunts on the other hand perfect, you have loads of water to your self it is bliss no one casting over you and you are never to far away from the fish hunts by far the best lake on the complex. 2 fish a mirrow 18.04 and a common of 14 bang on the lake dose not hold mant commons so although not the biggest was a lovely fish.
  7. hi mc1 nellbridge in aynho is a day ticket only lake which has 3 lakes, syndicate members can night fish it though. they have a good head ov 20,s in the specy lake but can be a bit tricky at times, although floater fishing dog biscuites can be productive. the new lake is well worth a go if you are after a bit of fun for a few hours in the evening again floater fishing dog biccys. it has a few fish up to 25 lots of high doubbles, here is the web address. www.nellbridgefishery.com have a look, the web site dose not get updated to often.
  8. yea hunts is my new favorite only fished it a few times and only had one fish. but you dont half have some room to play,i think the xtra £5 is well worth it.
  9. well it all depeneds what you are after?
  10. £50 for an overnighter?.... you could try milton pools in oxford. it £20 for 24hrs you can also pre book your swims full tackle shop and a good breakfast alsoreally nice people that run it.hope that helps.
  11. yea st jonhs can get really hammered, oxlease is a good bet nice big double swims if your with a mate also good winter water and as soon as the lakes have melted i shall be their. getting itchy feet have been cooked up indoors to long now.
  12. hi their bally95x have you looked at warmwell in weynmoth i go with the in laws and the missis and kids its a lovely place. set in woodland and the lodges are quite nice plus you have the entatainment their is also a very good dry ski slop on site my little boy loves it their. you can bivvy up their. also take mainline fusion boillies they destroy the place and if your a fan of bait boats u can use them, they used to hire them not sure if they still do. the carp do like the margins and the snagy areas so fish to them avoid the island margins though for some reason we didnt catch much when we fished to them.
  13. milton pools really nice place to fish can be a tricky little water dont over do it with bait simple method will sufice. the cabins a just that no bed or electrictay but enough room or two with bed chairs, the motorway side can be a bit noise the m40 runs along side it and dose ont stop day or night. most popular swims are 1,2 ,3,4, ,5,6 they allhave cabins 13,14,15, are good they dont have cabins 16,17, have cabins and i think 18,19 done cant remeber. 7,8 ,9,10 and 11,12 they have cabins but are all on the motorway side dont get me wrong good swims but noise. park and ride only 10mins from the fishery so she can go shopping as welder said cracking cafe and ray and val are really nice peolpe i cant rate them enough they are always nice and friendly their really nice to the little lad when he comes with me. but do phone and book because it can get bizzy.
  14. sorry jrackram it was orchid that i meant i should have stated. would loved to fish bluebell complex, sad to here about their losses.
  15. i wont fish it would not give the man my money if you no what i mean. stick with linear if you are looking for a lake round oxford all of the lakes hold good fish but they all do get hammered. try get on hunts corner thats just reopend so theirs a good chance the fish are not all that cautious at the moment so i guess it should fish well. it is a little more expensive @ £30 for 24hrs 3 rods.
  16. st johns is a great lake but be under no illisuon that its an easy water first you have to get a swim. ive learnt that dont just drop on an empty swim have a walk around first speak to every one. as far as swims go the point would be my first choice but getting on it is a diffrent matter. the soical bank is always good even if you dont catch you can have a good crack . the road bank is also very good lots of underwater features. check linear website regular and see what has come out. it has to be one of the most pressured lakes in the country fished it 6 times this year blanked every time. try mid week to get the best out of the lake. im doing manor farm at the weekend, thats always worth a go if you cant get on st johns.
