  1. Iv got a web tex warrior which iv had now for about 6 year and still works fine. And iv got a hi gear double gas stove with 3.9kg gas bottle for the longer sessions. Both bang on
  2. standard as you like. wafters then, or may critically balance some stuff which means i dont have to splash out on more bait as i dont have any wafters. just a snowman or something.
  3. Wot kind of hooklink? And what lead system?
  4. Sorry should have said, helicopter banned too. It's at alderfen lake in doncaster
  5. Gents Iv been practising my rig tying skills recently, in particlular the chod rig. I have got it to a standard now that i am happy to fish with. Bombshell!!!! The next water we are fishing is apparently very weedy and the chod rig is banned. What would you use? Im thinking stiff hinge........? Thank you please
  6. Did you find anything out about this lake? Im doing a 48hour session there on 6th march. Iv never fished it before.
  7. Iv just got some ESP braid scissors, fiver off ebay, they are awesome! They cut cleanly through braid even when its not pulled tight. Beasts! and they are nice and compact to fit in my tackle box
  8. Iv fished it a few times but blanked but that was a while ago and didn't really know what I was doing. I know there is some monsters in there, my mates had a few decent carp and I think there are cats up to 50lb, carp to 30lb and pike to 30lb......
  9. I don't know if its my method of tying Palomar knots but they always look like a screwed up mess no matter how much care I take. I just like the simple blood knot, it is fairly neat and seems to be quite strong. Grinner is by far the neatest I can do but not the simplest! You need about 6ft of tag end! No good for Chodington! Grange have you used both ESP and Korda?
  10. It must have been a lucky one, since then the hooklength just keeps kinking when tightening the knots and the JRC stiff fluoro is not memory free. Its either Korda Mouthtrap or ESP Bristle for my next purchase.........
  11. Iv just ordered a splicing needle and some korda kable. Tutorials on splicing make it look dead simple so going to check it out for myself.
  12. Do you reckon that a simple knot is as strong as splicing?
  13. I agree, 2 pints usually last me a 24 hour sesh, sometimes longer!
  14. I understand that some people are dead against leadcore but I dont want this thread to be a debate as to whether we should use it or not. I am just wondering....... - Of the people who do use it, do you splice it yourself or buy the pre-made ones. - What leadcore do you use - Any other experiences/tips/techniques that you would like to share. I know there are threads along the same lines but they are old and dated (2008), wanted to get a more recent thread now the market has changed.
  15. UPDATE!!!! Got it! Im using stiff fluoro and after steaming it in the shape i wanted its perfect! Top advice fellow anglers!
  16. I have used 'normal' scissors in the past which I thought were really good & sharp but when it came to braid they just didn't cut the mustard. The missus's daughter is a hairdresser and she has left a couple of pairs of scissors laying around from time to time which are really sharp but can be expensive.
  17. Im currently using JRC stiff fluorocarbon. i was actually looking at the ESP bristle filament earlier on ebay. Might invest in some. Im not sure about the hook being a chod hook but it has a slightly out-turned eye. Gunna try steaming. Il report back.
  18. Please help! After wasting a full spool (a bit of an exaggeration but....) attempting to get the chod rig right, I just cant get the hook point to face down, the hook always seems to lay to the side!!!! I start by whipping round the hook about 10 times and then when i pass the line back through the eye it always kicks out sideways! Iv tried manipulating the line to curve in a certain way but it just doesn't like it! What am i doing wrong?

  21. After searching it seems there are no threads about this critical item of tackle! 1) Which braid scissors do you use and would you recommend them? 2) Have you used any that are absolute tonk? I have got 2 pairs at the moment and both are not very good, one pair were about a tenner so not cheap and the others are NGT! The NGT ones are absolute tonk!
