I would recommend going to your local tackle shop, asking them, or maybe buy one of the Korda packs that gives you the lead clips and tubing. Then a few leads, some hooklink matieral, swivels, some hooks, hair stops, baiting needle if you havn't already got one and a back of shelf life boilies.

Hi, I only live 10-15 minutes away from here but am too young to fish it according to the rules. I am 16 and the rules say no juniors on the specimen lake and on the others you have to be 18 or with someone who is 18 to fish it. Do they stick to these rules? Or do they let people like me fish on their own? I wouldn't mind doing 24 hours there to see what it's like, so if anybody needs a fishing partner or doesn't mind being 'my responsible adult' please let me know. Thanks, Zac.

Hi I have fished there twice and blanked once. The second time between us we had 17lb, 12lb, 5lb and 5lb carp so it was not bad i suppose. The fish are fed on pellets which you can buy from the bailif. The two bigger fish fell to white coconut baits (it was a long time ago) and were in the evening. I would fish in open water and maybe stay away from the islands because this is where everybody immediately casts. The reeds by the bridge also bring a lot of anglers runs. I would maybe stick to the main lake as Dove can be very slow. If you are going to fish it regularly then maybe give it a go. If its a few times a year I would bet that your main chance of banking a few fish would be the Main lake. I don't know much about the water but if you have any questions just ask. Including my directions because its on the way to my Dad's so we drive past it everytime.

Another thing to take into account: Braid floats!

Braid is thinner and doesn't stretch. Mono has stretch in it and Fluorocarbon is almost invisible under water. The breaking strains are normally corroect from the manufacturer but i cannot stress enough that it depends on the knot. Most knots will only give 70-80% of the breaking strain of the line if tied correctly. Also, yes, braid can be bought under 10lb breaking strain but you may have to look around. Hope this helps zac

different rigs work differently on different baits, hooklink material, legnth of hooklink, lead setup, lakebed and size of fish. try experimenting to see what works best to suit your fishing situation.

tonybranno is right, for example, when a new bait is tested they dont tell you how many times it didnt catch as well, and how many times they blanked on it. they only tell you about the 30's, 40's and 50's they catch, to make you buy it!

Thanks for the help. Im fishing at the moment and had 2 fish. One small one a fully scaled about 9 pound on double floating corn size 8 Korda kurv shank b to a 8-10 inch flourocarbon hooklink. Both my rods wont stop beeping! So i should be in for a good day! Touch wood!

as tomorrow is my second session in almost a year what is a good rig for 2 pieces of artificial corn, i have most of the stuff to make most rigs i.e. fluoro carbon, braid, coated braid, LOADS of hooks, rig putty, mouth snaggers etc etc you get the idea any help please!

hi, i dont suppose any of you know if the Main Lake at Hawkhurst Fish Farm is open during the winter? i heard something about it being closed during the winter. i wanna fish it in the next 2 weeks or so and didnt want to be let down id i just turned up. I think you have to book nights anyway thanks

i filled up most of my safe today for spares.....

a mate of mine went in may or june for 10 days and between 6 of them they took 50kg of boilies with them! But then again he still has a handfull left now! also, they USED UP £120 worth of PVA between them! it was summer though so fish would have been feeding more obviously. dont know what the weather is like out there though good luck

i ALWAYS use leadcore leaders. normally with a flying back-lead aswell just to completely get the line on the bottom. i have heard that the korda safe zone leaders are good IF you get the coulours right(cus they do different colours of leaders)

Can anyone give me a hand with maggot rigs without using a maggot clip?
