    Florocarbon

    steam from a kettle mate.
  4. I'll allso add some facts to this thread so if people are planning to go there they will know the differance between fact and fiction There are around 100 carp 70 of which are 20s. There are 3 x 30s, the only 30lber to come out so far this season is Casper twice, once at 33lb in march and the other last week at 30lb.12. There are only 17 cats in there the biggest is 35lb No bream Around a dozen tench It's £20 for 24 hrs for 3 rods. Most of the carp I've seen/ had out have been stunning, but bear in mind that most of these have been in there winter colours. My favoured swims would be Snags, beach, lazy mans, Caspers. I would not recomend this place to any one in the main season, as it will be busy. They rent caravans out as well so it's busy with familys, kids dogs running around all day is the norm during the holiday. I hope this thread will help...
  5. The comments above are exactly why I on ly fish Cobbleacre in the winter. I must admit I've never caught a carp from marios under 18lb, is that the lake you was fishing? I feel abit sorry for Bob as belive me it is not him that is recking the place it is Trevor the owner. Trevor has never fished in his life and will happily tell you that. Trevor made Bob sell season tickets on the lake this season (not including weeekends) so basically day anglers is max of 8 then the rest is kept for season ticket holders. Regards the place not being easy I have had 9 pms in the last month asking me about this place and I've told them all it is not easy. The majority of fish come to the locals and they are all on they same bait, and belive me they put a lot in. Regards the coment it's fishing it's tits off, that might be a bit of an over statement the fish that have come out in the last 2 weeks to my knolage (this is fact as I have seen the fish landed or pictured) is casper again at just over 30lb 12 differant 20s. I'll never fish this place from end of march untill November as I hate it there during these months.

    Trilene

Does anyonre use Berkley Trilene for there hook link while using zigs? What do you think? I've been using Korda IQ, but gets a bit expensive as I'm nailing them in 7 foot of water.
  7. I was using esp strip teaz today, and that allso done that. I have to agree with you on the mantis gold tho, quality hook link.
  8. Black Stealth looks a good one for silt, although I've not used it as yet.
  9. Mate your best bet would be to buy a Helicopter rig pack from your tackle shop. Solar do a good pack which is cheap, well it is compared to the korda pack. lol
  10. If I fished the above rig with a pop up will that turn it into a chod rig? I guess if I'm fishing on top of weed I just move the bead further up. Is this right?
  11. Just make sure you use a bit of rig foam on your hook.

    Pop ups

How long do pop ups stay bouyant for if you put them on a hair using a baiting needle? I'm using the Frank warrick ones at the moment.

    Setup

my preferd business end setup would be. Esp Raptor hook, Esp strip teaze hook link, tied with a knotless knot. With a quick link. Rig tubing flecked up with a pen, 15lb Daiwa sensor. I do change from time to time depending on what I'm fishing on, but most of the time go with this as it's what I have the most confidance in.
  14. cheers mate.
  15. what a wolly, I mean what is the differance between helicopter and chod rig. not zig. lol
  16. This is probably a stupid question but what is the differance between the zig and the helicoptor rig?
  17. pezza

    zig rig

Is a zig rig basicaly a bolt rig but with a long hook link with a pop up? So if you wanted to fish mid water and the lake was 6 feet deep you would use a 3 feet lengh of hook link?
  18. If you strip it back it makes the bait act more natural in the water.
  19. Thanks fo the advice, I've been pike fishing next to the bridge by the big W store so I'll give the carp a go cheers. I know from pikeing it's really weedy there so I think I'll try takeing a few pop ups with me and fish on top of the weed. Pezza
  20. Has anyone fished the broads in Norwich for Carp? I was thinking of giving the stretch of wensom a go near the football ground.
  21. No it's not weedy, it's manly gravel with the odd bit of sand and silt. It's near Attleborough, yes it's safe. I've never had any probs there but as I said it is very very busy. Weekends the whole lake is full and most of the time there is people queing to get in a swim when the day anglers finish. In the week it can veary between being half full to completely full.
  22. The baliffs name is Ray. I fish swangey a lot it's good value for money at £10 for 24hrs. The down side is it is very very busy there, no matter what time of the year or what day of the week. The most productive swims are the point, the beach, the bins and clay bank. You will find it's like bait boat city as well, and all the times I fished there people without boats get out fished by people with boats. I must admit I do like it there and would probably fish it alot more then I do but I have a syndicate ticket else where, but I still get down to Swangey a cpl of times a month.
  23. I use Kordas IQ fluro in 15lb. Korda Highbrid. These are the only 2 hook links that I've used for the past 6 months and have had no probs.
