  1. lots of conflicting statements fly round about this rig and hook patterns.

a rig should spin and turn otherwise its a badly developed idea. I dont thin for one minute that frank (judging by his sensible approach to posts and general comments) would commit to a rig unless he was totally confident that it works.....SAFELY. problems arise when you put inexperienced anglers on the end of a rod fishing for pasties, and the biggest disgrace is using it in a barbless form...................barbaric

  2. no that was me,and it really is likely to be a tight fit. lay all your gear out and times it by five then add all that bait etc etc.

and I use a trailer because I do very very very long sessions frequently, not two night hits :wink::wink::lol::lol:

    Two night hits!!

I'll be lucky to get one of those!!

was where you are nearly twenty tears ago mate and I sympathise, I really do. does all pan out though if you plan your money out right, worked my nads off for a long time with a goal in mind, and very very nearly there now :wink:

  3. I believe it was Mike Wilson who originally used Glass Weights at Savay. He was concerned due to the effect of an Electrical Current occurring between dissimilar metals in water. He was using the glass from a Chandelier.

Wonder if he realised the continuing possibilities of Clear Leads.

As for Clear hooks, why is it not possible? We have polycarbonates that are extremely strong and sharp and may well be able to manipulated/extruded into the right shape.

Will it be an edge though? How much difference is there between a sharp metal hook that is difficult to see in water, especially if hidden under a boilie and a polycarbonate (sic) hook? Look at how, in many cases your hook lands on the lakebed, often with the boilie landing on top masking it from view, especially as the boilie is not usually as dense as the Hook.

remember I was talking in a pm a while ago about a new hooking arrangement for zigs i was looking forward to getting into mate, this is it

  4. true

ruffing it up would make it opaque

grooves would refract, like a prism.

I take it the secret is in its shape and material

yes mate  lots will be jumping on the bandwagon and buying from firms that are selling a gimmick though, and actually worthless in fishing terms :wink::lol::lol::lol::lol:

  5. Doesn't class reflect light - I cant see me buying into this idea?

with regards to a lead, the density of the glass doesnt affect the clarity of it, you would need to be fishing a very shallow water, somewhere around a mile off the sun and casting once a minute, so as to keep the lead moving before you could spot mine.

Did tests on my water....gin clear..depths 5-7ft, i dropped one in the margin in six inches of water, and four of us spent twenty minutes looking for it. wouldnt touch anything else now, aside from dung leads for snaggy choddy areas, and only because they take a glug on

  6. and im also not daft mate :lol:

buy the mass produced kaka at your own peril, waste of time, I had the foresight to get a guy to custom make mine nearly twelve months ago :wink::wink: .......... do not buy the smooth leads, they slip like you would not believe

thats all im saying on the matter now

  7. Osprey angling are bringing out a range of invisible end tackle, next year i think.

Leads, lead clips beads rubbers, leads etc.

This may be who goblin is already getting them from, not sure?

no mate, and they have the same problem, impossible to tighten down to them

  8. There is plenty of materials out there that are stronger than metal, it just comes down to the cost of produceing, hooks £10 or more a pack would you pay it

without doubt if they come up with the product they are promising mate, they did with my leads and they cost £3.75 each

  9. not to detract from your thinking on the mechanics of this rig mate as you are obviously applying thought to it but, as nick said the key is in getting them on the bait and a very basic rig will fool them more often than not then. I think you may be over egging the omelette so to speak, but if its working for you then stick with it, but I would suggest doing a fairly lengthy test by fishing a basic rig alongside it and recording results
