  1. Any advice about carp fishing this time of year? There's open but cold water in the Hudson. Also, what about ice fishing? I caught the fish in the photo by hand through the ice in a shallow pond, but I am sure there are better techniques.
  2. Thank you. I hope to and am already learning a lot. Just shows you're never too old!
  3. I had never heard of end tackle rigs. Another member explained them to me. I suppose they would work for catfishing too. I nvere even knew this was a problem.
  4. What are end tackle sleeves and why would I need them?
  5. Thank you so much. I know it's winter, but the weather is crazy warm here and some potential carp spots are actually open water.
  6. I am completely new to carp fishing. I am not an avid fisherman, but more than a novice after 50 years. I do a lot of channel cat fishing in the Hudson. Can someone give me the basics of carp fishing as far as rigs, baits, etc. Also, there are some flats that hold big carp in the Mid-Hudson River in the summer. Would they still hold up there in the colder weather?
