  1. Thanks, the mix worked in the bags without melting them this morning so must have got something right!!
  2. Haha don't worry I'm definitely going! Gear is in the hallway waiting for morning! As I said never fished a lake of that size so wondering which area of the lake might be holding the fish
  3. Just reviving an old topic here rather than starting a new one...if adding molasses to a general particle/groundbait mix is there any rules about quantities? Ideally I've got a mix of prepped birdseed and sweetcorn and want to be able to use it in pva bags without them melting on the bank!!
  4. Very true, if you're not fishing you've no chance of catching 😂 Only reason I'm asking for advice is this is probably the biggest lake I've fished specifically for carp. I'm trying to upgrade myself from the local farm ponds/commercial venues so want all the advice and guidance I can get!
  5. Hi all, I'm going out for a day ticket tomorrow on Wyreside (northwest UK) and wondered what everyone's thoughts are on the influence of the current weather. I've been keeping a watching and wind direction is very changeable but not too strong and pressure is dropping in AM and rising in PM but generally very little change. I've also attached a map of the lake....which area would you choose to set yourself up for the day? Paul
  6. Completely agree actually but looks like for now I'll just have to accept it and renew on a 3 rod licence in a few months.
  7. Well I've had a very thorough reply from them but the basics of it is that they don't have a clever enough system for rod licences for this upgrade type option to be available and if they did it would increase rod licence costs.
  8. Yeah I guess if nothing constructive comes back from the complaint then I might stick out the next 6 months on my current licence and then upgrade going forward. No point throwing money away and fair point too that not all swims will be appropriate for 3 rods
  9. Going forward it's what I hope to be doing all the time. I'm trying to take my carping up a notch and visit some or the more major fisheries and do overnights etc. Most places I've checked out around here in the northwest are ok for 3 rods anytime.
  10. Unfortunately for me I chose to pay in full upfront which now seems to be my downfall! Yeah I think the other option is an 8 day licence but would still put me in a similar situation with increasing costs.
  11. Hi all, Has anyone ever been in the situation of currently having a 2 rod 12 month coarse licence and wanting to change to or upgrade to a 3 rod licence? I've just rung up the environment agency phone line and they told me that this isn't possible and my options are; - cancel current licence and take out a full year 3 rod licence (therefore I would lose 6 months of licence I've already paid for) - take out a day licence in addition to my current licence each time I want to use 3 rods at £6 per day - take out a second 2 rod licence therefore allowing me to use 4 rods but obviously with a total cost of £60 per year (I don't even have 4 rods and I'm not even sure what fisheries would allow 4 rods) I've logged a complaint to be reviewed by the fishing team so fingers crossed somebody there will have some sense and bend the procedures to make this work! Any advice appreciated. Thanks, Paul
  12. Ah ok so basically I need to round the loops so that the movement for the swivel will be easier and also I need to angle the shrink tube more as well? I tied some micro barbed versions exactly the same as I'm planning on going on Foxes lake at Wyreside, Lancaster. I've never fished the place before so not too sure about the composition of the bottom but I know there aren't really any overhanging trees etc and I know there is a weed and gravel bar/ sunken island across the middle of the lake. I already have some tied up with coated braid and stripped the last couple of cms before the hook so maybe they would be better?
  13. Hi all Just tied up some Ronnie rigs and had a few questions/thoughts whilst going through the process. I wanted to tie them using stiff rig and decided rather than going with the trend of crimps that I would use a simple loop, maybe it's been done before and is a suitable alternative but what are your thoughts given that the swivel has a lot of loop to move around on. Also when you steam the rig straight do you pull the hook straight too therefore lining up the entire rig or do you typically align the shrink tube and swivel in a particular way or angle. With this example I just pulled straight.
  14. Well the decision was made! Managed to get a Nash indulgence ss3 airframe sleep system with pillow and winter shroud for £150 second hand with no faults or damage so very pleased with that 👍
  15. Does anyone know the difference between the Nash indulgence air lite and the indulgence air frame? Is it just that the air lite is the older version? Any recommendations for older or newer? Obviously the newer should have benefits but would be more expensive.
  16. Thanks both that's really helpful! Are the Nash indulgence really worth the money? Based on your glowing review of cyprinus I would say possibly not!
  17. Hi all, I've spent countless hours on ebay, Facebook marketplace and other second hand sites looking for a Nash sleep system and to be fair there are loads but they are either collection only and not in my area or they just go above my budget really. So I've been looking at the cyprinus sleep systems and I could get one brand new for the same price, if not cheaper than a Nash one second hand. So what does everyone think of them? Does anyone have one? I've heard a lot of good things about their bivvies and that they just copy the expensive brands out there and wondered if the same applied to their bedchairs. Thanks
  18. Great thanks for the advice, when I did it in the garden I just placed the ground sheet in I didn't actually attach it as it was going dark haha. Next time will be on the bank anyway so will have to do it properly then, no excuses!
  19. Does anyone rate the cyprinus ones? I've heard good things about their bivvies but not sure about anything else they do
  20. I've been looking at a Nash trax actually, a second hand one. Not sure on the exact model but apparently it can be taken apart to fit in a small car so maybe it's the micro model as you mention @bluelabel Based on everyone's advice I think I might steer clear of the cheap brand new ones.
  21. Hello, Is it just me or do almost all carp barrows look the same? I've been looking for one second hand as they were pretty pricey for the Nash or fox one's but then I spotted a brand new one at go outdoors for £50 and it genuinely looked the same as much more expensive ones. Opinions please and what do you use? Thanks, Paul
  22. Well after much drama over the Christmas period with courier the bivvy arrived!! Very happy with it and it's very spacious! Did a practice run with it in the back garden haha Any tips on getting the material tight all round? Maybe it's because the grass was very wet but whenever I pulled the pegs tight they pulled out of the ground.
  23. Not actually received it yet but this is it
  24. Just got myself a second hand JRC extreme tx 2 Man bivvy. Think I got myself a good deal and the patience paid off. It's only ever been set up once and got it for £180 delivered.
  25. Size 4 korda krank for me. Pretty happy with them so far, blamed the dodgey hook holds on fish being too small for the hook and bait but they were hooked 😂
