This is what i have been using ... sits pretty nice above the korda dropper ... also i use the gripper version in weed as i find the sliding one can leave the hooklink suspended in the weed my casting is not perfect and sometimes you might miss that clear spot and dnt wanna re-cast due to disturbance in the swim i like keeping that to a minimum ... i always cover my hook point with pva nugget.

That would be great if i could get away with it but im fishing in weed alot of it and i need to drop the lead or i run a higher risk of a weed ball on my lead im using the korda lead drop atm as its working well ... i tried the nash lead drops but they are total rubbish as soon as you reel in it drops the lead on a minimal tug pulling back throu the weed the korda ones much better but i still drop the odd one now and then. The thing is with the korda ones is you have to tie to a swivel ... i could loop to loop as suggested but i dnt have much faith using mono loop to loop style on a swivel ... i normally use a palomar knot for all my swivel tieing ... this is why i wanted a quick change for the chod hooklink itself so i dont have to keep tieing the lead dropper on and off.

Sorry to carp on but has anyone used a quick change with a chod ... i see nash do that twirly thing that sits on the bead but i dnt like the idea of it

Hi does anyone no what size the o ring swivel is that sits on the chod barrel bead made by nash the only ones i have found made by nash look abit on the small side. Also what is the standard size if there is one Thanx in advance Dean.

I have watched most of alans videos ... great vids and a great guy urban banx is probley the most natural fishing i have seen in years ... gets to meet alot of people on his travels and all them waters some untouched and have probley never seen a bait hats off to him , just goes to show what park lakes can offer if your willing to give it ago his stunning brace of 20lb mirrors 15 mins after arriving early febuary on that park lake was a highlight for me ... right place right time ... location location.

Yes 150 yards is quite a chuck i have seen it done on rods of the same test thoe ... mabey my quote (easily) is abit misleading as its not easy atall and on them rods untested by myself i cannot give an accurate reply sorry ... but spot on with (do you need to be fishing at that distance) not atall most of my fishing does not exceed 80 yards ... i much rather hit a clear spot in open water at 50 yards than hit an island at 90 yards ... thoes that recast at night will understand the how easier that makes things.

If it is distance you are after i would look at line lay and what line you are using ... old line will never cast as far as new line ... normally half way throu the season i will load my reels with fresh line or to save money re-spool your line onto a spare spool so the fresh stuff is now on top. I can gain upto 30 yards in some cases depending on the line. Also when casting try not to over do the cast by that i mean put all your power into it ... a smoother softer cast will always go further than a hard swung cast. I would not change rods 2.75 is more than enuff ... also the shape of the lead will also affect distance so use one suited to long distance casting. Them rods with the right line and lead will easily hit 150 yards.

This is so true i remember seeing a new guy hauling on a local we fished alot as we sat there on a 2 day blank hats off to him ... i suppose im probley looking into things too much ... just need to take a step back keep it simple and let the water guide me.

Heres a picture of howells pointing north. The north east corner looks like it gets a few visits very worn banks and looks like its either been cleared or very deep. Also the point would be a good place to start giving acess to fish that might otherwise be out of range with preassure from the bank swims. Lastly the south west corner of the island looks like its very shallow and has a nice shelf mabey its my eyes. Take a look at the pic and tell me what you see and points you would be looking to target.

Thanx for the advice and i guess your right best thing to do is get stuck in you will only learn from bein on the bank ... im just one of thoes that likes to find out as much info about the places im going to fish so it will give me an edge when i finally get there ... reason im asking is i no late march early april they will be on the munch and i wanna maximise this spell and i dont want it to be wasted by going in pretty much blind .... yes you have the basic things at this time of year ... warm winds ... shallow bays ... finding the fish etc etc.

Also these are a very good allows the lead to drop off on a heli/chod rig ... once pressure is applied on the hooklink ... i always like the lead to fall off as during the fight i find the lead moving about can weaken the hook hold.

Korda do a buffer that sits on the lead and the chod just sits on it.

Try looking at the new fox eos 5000 i have the 10000s on my ledger rods and they are pretty good so i got the 5000 so i have matching reels matching reels ... ocd And yea that rod is top notch for surface fishing light and balanced i have had fish over 20 with size 10 hooks and you can feel everything right throu to the butt ... perfect for soaking up lunges.

Many people have the problem with trying to find a water to fish i was one of them stuck on day ticket waters as that was all that was in my area at the time ... i have now moved house and now i have 2 clubs with around 15 waters on each most within 30 min drive from me. Some would say im lucky but i now have a massive headache after looking throu 30 odd waters and trying to decide what club to join and what lake to fish ... what makes it worse is there is very little information out there even on the net about the clubs and there waters. maldon angling society and chelmsford angling association ... both there websites have no forum and there is the basic info about the lakes on there ... mostly outdated even the catch reports are far and few between. The one lake i have been drawn to is ... howells in langford on the MAS club ... a 5 acre lake that seems to have a big head of 20+ fish judging from the picture gallery on there website but thats the only info i can find. Basically its my first year back and i want a runs water to put a few fish on the bank and get back into the swing of things and enjoy my fishing again. Ill get there one day.

I use esp striptease its the best coated braid i have used ... and you can't really go wrong with korda hooks.

I still think its an improvement thoe and a step in the right direction ... the tail rubber may be pushed right upto it ... but without that i still see novices pushing it right the way upto the butt ... atleast with that its not pushed fully on ... but yea its still on too far for my liking.

The most simple way to fix this would surley be to just trim the wafter ... test and re-test to its sitting right. Im not really a fan of them as i find that the wafter becomes more buoyant the deeper you fish so it may be sitting perfect in the margin but in 11ft of water you have no idea how it is sitting ... i think alot of fished are hooked when its almost sitting like a zig rig half the time ... i have also seen cases where an undertow has move the wafter/hooklink back on itself and managed to get wrapped around the lead system/leader ... i would not be confident when using them that my rig is actually fishing how i want it to. If i want a wafter type rig i will use a split shot after the hook that will hold the popup at desired height i find this is the nearest you will get to a wafter type rig that i no will be fishing right.

Just been sorting my gear out and one of the bracket/sliders that mount under the bite alarms is missing off my swinger ... looked on ebay but none on there ... might have to buy a whole new swinger unless i can get that piece from somewhere else.
