  1. Does anyone know of any carp lakes availiable to hire exclusively for a few nights? Looking at a group of 3 or 4 anglers. We're up in Manchester, willing to travel within reasonable distance.
  2. I've given up with them now! I did try to trim them down, although I had to trim so much off them to get the size 6 hook to sit flat that it just looked ridiculous having such a large hook in comparison to the rather small wafter once trimmed down. So for now, just thinking what else I can use them for as it's a waste of £12 on 2 tubs of these things Was thinking I might be able to use them as a snowman topper - potentially. I wouldn't recommend anyone buying any of these.
  3. Has anyone fished here before? http://www.bywaterlake.co.uk/
  4. Has anyone used this? How good is it? I've been looking for a non coated braid hooklink and wondered if this was any good? Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  5. Not too sure. I saw on a mainline website article the krank size 6 balances perfectly so I bought them. Not sure about the Kurv ones. http://www.mainline-baits.com/mainline-articles/balanced-bites-part-two-165/ "if I thread a 15mm wafter onto a standard Hair Rig using a size 6 Krank, the hook will sit flat with the hookbait hovering just above it" Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  6. Just tied up some knot less knot rigs with a korda size 6 krank and put on a 15mm mainline wafter which is supposed to have been tested against korda size 6 and match perfect. The wafter lifts the whole rig off the bottom and sits mid water. Complete waste of money. It's more like a popup !!
  7. Seen this Trakker weigh sling which I thought looked good but can't work out if there is a zip or anything down the sides and the images make it hard to tell. Do they normally have a zip so it opens up easily ? http://www.anglingdirect.co.uk/trakker-sanctuary-half-moon-weigh-sling
  8. I noticed an AdVanta rehab cradle that seems to fold away fairly small. Quite difficult to tell from one photo, though there are 3 different sizes and they all look different http://www.anglingdirect.co.uk/advanta-discovery-cx-rehab-cradle
  9. Looking to buy both of the above and wondering what you people would recommend. Ideally I'd like a cradle type but it has to be one that folds down small, any recommends? Same with a weigh slings really, something that folds away small but is up to the job !
  10. Has anyone fished this place and in particular the 0.4 acre pool they offer on an exclusive basis? Looking for information really on whether it's any good.
  11. Thanks. Just ordered the Salty Squid and the Pineapple wafters. See how I get on this weekend!
  12. Yes I like the idea of keeping things simple. I'm going to go down the route of tying up some basic knotless knot rigs with a short hair and get some wafters ! I've got a couple packs of Nash Fang X hooks in a size 7. Wondering what brand / size wafter would balance well with this hook ?
  13. Thanks I'll give that a try!! Any preference on wafters? I was looking at the mainline ones... Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  14. Would you leave off the rig ring then in this case? Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  15. Hi everyone, I'm new to carping and rig tying. So far I've managed to make some decent blowback rigs and also a few multi rigs and ronnie rigs for the popups. Many of the waters in my area are silty or clay bottom - I was wondering whether there are any other rigs I should be taking a look at that are not too difficult to tie up. Had a go at the IQD rig but struggled with the stiff hooklink kinking. I was looking at wafters and wondering which rig they would be used on.
  16. Thanks everyone. I'll take a look at the suggestions. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  17. Which is the best cheap bite alarm around? I have a Delkim but I'm on the lookout for a cheapo for my Dad. That said, I don't wanna be buying a crappy one. Are the Fox ones any good? Seen one around 20-30 quid. Any other recommends would be helpful.
  18. Hi everyone, I'm still on my learning curve in the world of carp fishing and I'm currently looking for some help with bobbins and bite indication. I have bought the clinga standard which I believe weighs in at 6g and I'm finding that when I attach it to my line it's immediately pulling my line super tight. I notice they do some smaller ones that weigh in at 2g called the old skool for slack line fishing. My question is, how would this 2g bobbin drop back if a carp run towards you? Are there any other clinga ones that might be better? I have the clinga kit so I could buy any of their heads and attach to the kit I have.
  19. Thank you for all the help guys, I've managed to get some korda small rig rings and I think they measure in at 2mm, they seem to be just about right, not too tight and just loose enough to slide freely up the hook. Think I'll look on eBay for some 2mm ones next time I need a stock up
  20. I'm trying to make a blowback rig using a rig ring. I'm struggling to work out what the best size ring to use is. I'm using a Nash Fang X size 7 hook. I've tried the korda rig rings in a micro which fit snug, quite a tight fit really but still movement up the hook. I've tried korda small ones which seem a little slack and now I've tried nash ones in a 2.5mm. The sizes confuse me too as some like korda don't tell you size. What are everyone's thoughts? Is a loose fit desired? The 2.5mm ones seem very slack, just doesn't look right to me. At £3.50 a pack I'd like some insight before buying any more!
