citycountry
G'day All, I arrived at Chaffey Dam yesterday afternoon, set up quickly with a storm brewing in the distance. It amounted to nothing so I started to get the maize in on my spot. Lo and behold another even bigger storm rears up and unleashes fury down the Peel River valley. I got absolutely drenched, the tent was trashed and I was left sulking in the shower shed thinking 'what the hell am I doing?', no mobile reception, tracks back to the tent muddy as hell. Woohoo. Not impressed. Got back and sure enough wet bed, wet tent, wet everything. Eventually got to bed about 12am after setting the alarm for every two hours, just to check the dam level as I am quite close to the bank. Woke up at 4am and thought [censored] this, showered and got fishing. Seriously within 2min the first rod tore off quickly followed by the other rod!!! Landed the first one, played and landed the second then danced the stupidist jig you have ever seen on my own in the middle of bloody nowhere!!! C'mon!!!! So that was my first brace, I had two more double hook ups then several one toners 15 min apart up till 10am when it just got too hot...33 degrees out in the open too so packed up and headed in to town where I'm at the library disgorging this now. End result....12 fish up to 8 and a half pound, all scrappers, and one happy if not a little sodden camper!!! Aussie carp!!! One more night to go then early pack up and down to Sydney. Hope it's a little cooler and protected...at least the camp site!! http://picasaweb.google.com.au/benthegardener/AustralianCarping#5423809962900341410 You can just see my tent in the middle of picture. http://picasaweb.google.com.au/benthegardener/AustralianCarping#5423809961177935042 http://picasaweb.google.com.au/benthegardener/AustralianCarping#5423809965600234130 http://picasaweb.google.com.au/benthegardener/AustralianCarping#5423809964979333874 http://picasaweb.google.com.au/benthegardener/AustralianCarping#5423809971328871378 http://picasaweb.google.com.au/benthegardener/AustralianCarping#5423810169397218402 One happy little vegemite!!! citycountry
G'day All, It's now Friday arvo and I've decamped and recamped to Sydney. All is well and last night I managed to catch more fish!! All told I think about 20ish fish all told with the largest, and my new Aussie PB, being 10lbs. All caught pop-ups chod style over maize. The capture was great, I had a group of blokes with their kids chatting about my weird fishing set-up when suddenly one of the weird box like things screamed away!!! A real one toner, it was awesome! Not big noting but they were quite impressed, prob took 5-8min to land and a great fight. So stoked! And here it is......all scrapping 10lb...I know not huge but who cares! Am I happy, I think so!! And here's a few more atmospherics and another capture... So hopefully the good fortune can continue in Sydney. Prob take a walk tomorrow and prebait a few areas. Chaffey mission completed, Sydney mission underway!!! Take it easy, Ben
