markpreston Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 I am looking for some advice on how this fishes as I have managed to get a few pegs on here for a tenner this saturday. This is a syndicate water and none of the syndicate bunch on there own site seem very chatty lol. Quote
salokcinnodrog Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 Thread moved into UK Where to Fish As for the syndicate members being quiet, it maybe a case of they want to know you and accept you before they give anything back. Which means you may have to so some work and offer them some information you have found out Quote

markpreston Posted September 29, 2008 Author Report Posted September 29, 2008 The info I have so far isa s follows. The lake has approx 33 catfish which appear to be the target species and are often caught on liver based products. The carp are often an afterthought for anyone fishing the lake. The lakes owner has said the carp are fished for that little that she has no idea of the sizes they are at now as they are never targeted. Im thinking of going at them with maggots and seeing how it goes Quote
craftycarping Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 funny im going there on saturday aswell Quote
davelappine Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 I would avoid maggots, it's rammed with Gudgeon, they tend to get used as bait for the Cats. Stick to decent boilies and you should pick up Carp, however, don't expect any monsters, the average size is quite low. Quote
markpreston Posted September 29, 2008 Author Report Posted September 29, 2008 Im gonna be field testing some hand rolled baits for a supplier that might be doing baits for me so hopefully Ill get a couple out, The owner claims they should be upto and poss over 25lb is this correct??? Quote
davelappine Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 I would be very surprised if there's anything in there approaching that size, unless of course some larger fish have been stocked since last year. We dropped out of the syndicate as we felt that the average size of the fish on offer was low. Since more people have been fishing it over the last couple of years a lot more bait will have gone in so you would expect the fish to put on weight, but I still think you'd be lucky to see anything over 20lb. It's a nice place to fish though and the owners are lovely people. Quote
markpreston Posted October 7, 2008 Author Report Posted October 7, 2008 Well, Im back from fishing fellview with a party of 7. The lake is absolutly stunning, So many features. The owners was polite and very nice and the hospitality was great. Now thats the positives out of the way!!! The venue has catfish and carp in it but unfortunatley the owners have no time for the carp and in the 8 years they have had the water 33 cats have been stocked and nothing else. The pegs that have been placed are a decking board apporx 7x3 foot and do not give enough room to play and land a fish aswell as have a pod there. The lake is very intimate and never has more than 11 anglers on and the norm is for only 2 or 3 to be on the lake at any time so not much bait goes in the water. Due to the above fact you would think the fish woiuld be fed up ready for winter but not 1 kg of feed has gone in from the owners in the last 8 years. The frustrating thing about the lake is that it has so much potential but is clearly mis managed. When we asked why no stock was entered into the lake we was told they priced up 25lb carp and was quoted £3000!! A 25lb carp from slf costs £625. they tried to use KHV as an excuse yet they are adding foreign cats to the water So overall As a syndicate If your after carp its a big thumbs down If cats are your thing then its for you. A real shame so much potential yet so little enthusiasm to make it excellent. Quote
