Leadcore leaders are used to sink the line near your presentation so the fish dont spook as much so year a bit like tubing!

Shockleaders take the pressure of a heavy cast so that your normal mainline will not snap due to the fact its still on your spool at the cast. ie 40 shockleader to 10lb line, the 10lb would snap on its own but the few feet of 40lb takes the initial impact.

 

 

Clear and fluro leaders are just to disguise your line from the fish.

I found some shockleaders float ( quicksilver for one)

 

Ive gone full circle now using tubing agian till I get sick of threading the line throught it

 

I don't think it makes a huge difference as long as it matches the lake bed
