Club Waters in or around Surrey

Recommended Posts

hey everyone. my goal for the next season is to be out on the bank as much as possible and this is where i am in need of some advice.

Being fairly inexperienced im looking to cut my teeth fishing a regular venue close to home and maybe a few other waters for when i fancy a change. Ive fished Stew Pond in Epsom and was looking at another of CALPAC's waters in Manor Pond in Cobham but i cant really seem to find much info on it, so i dont really know what im walking in to.

I will be mainly fishing short after work sessions and maybe a few overnighters, fishing mainly PVA bags. Im not looking to catch giant fish more to just a nice quiet atmosphere and an opportunity to put a bend in the rod.

if you guys can think of any other venues or clubs within an easy driving distance of Carshalton then let me know. Would like to find out a bit more about these venues.

Whereabouts in Carshalton, I used to live up near St Helier hospital!

I was gonna suggest teyh CALPAC waters but you appear to have found them, I cut my teeth on the Stew Pond in Epsom, great fun. I only fished Manor Pond once so can't offer too much although I'd approach it as a silty venue now and look for hard/clear patches and fish on a tench unfriendly bait.

I spent most of my time after Epsom at Farlows near lamgley. Only 45mins away so possibly a goer for you, I worked near there so weekends were ideal after work.

There's a lake at Redhill, Old Philanthropic springs to mind. Also Gatton Manor near Dorking. Both are club type waters.

On the day ticket front have a look at Bury Hill just outside Dorking, lovely lake with some cracking carp. Try fishing near the marginal lilies, Pepperami over trout pellest worked years ago for the carp, set up well back and keep the rods away from the edge of the lake, sit right back and keep quiet.

There's some lakes up at Hampton Court in the park and also in Richmond Park but the Richmond lake is/was rock hard.

Cheers gents for your suggestions.

I live just down the road from the hopsital, near Poulters ark so im literally a stones throw away from the Wandle if i ever fancy a change from having a carping. im a novice even on the rivers as well.

I work at Canary Wharf so ive a bit of a trek home from work before i can get home and pick up my gear.

Manor Pond intrigues me but i cant really find much about it online. Stew pond is more local and no nights but the state its in now and the amount of numptys that frequent it really detract me even though there are at least a couple of nice fish in there.

I dont really think im ready for somewhere like Papercourt as im so inexperienced, and id rather wait to fish somewhere like this until ive honed my watercraft and bait application a bit more.

I've looked at the localish clubs and waters, Godalming, Farnham, Dartford, CALPAC etc. Are any of you guys members of or fish waters controlled by these? What are your thoughts?
