marashcroft
I'm thinking of going to Lac Chateau Cavagnac later this year (being a lover of creature comforts I don't fancy drive & survive!). Any body been or got any feedback? Me and 2 mates went in august 2006. I can highly recommend it mate! The price may seem a bit steep but believe me its not. The lake is out of this world, the team r very friendly and helpfull. The food is first class! What i would suggest is don't book in advance, keep an eye on the website and take advantage of the offers of the free flights they sometimes offer! we saved about £130 with the same offer! gersman1
I'm thinking of going to Lac Chateau Cavagnac later this year (being a lover of creature comforts I don't fancy drive & survive!). Anybody been or got any feedback? hi tryzard i've been too the lake twice the first time there was a weed problem but the staff at the lake worked their butts off to clear it for us the staff do their hardest to put you on the fish this lake is the best lake i have ever fished in france the food was fantastic. the second time i went there was a problem with my rods but they changed them for me no questions asked the weed problem had gone this lake is not an easy lake to fish but if you work at it the rewards are great the staff again did anything they can for (i had beer delivered to my swim at 2 am) i would highly recommend this lake to anyone who has not fished in france before

paulgoodey
ive got a few days booked in july for the nash resort and i recieved a phone call a few weeks ago regarding the tackle, they have confirmed that all the gear was into its third season and becoming battered and worn as you would expect, but within the next month or so its all being replaced by brand new from the bivvies to the rods so anyone going or thinking of going should have no worries as far as the tackle goes, hope this clears up any doubts. loonboy
i hope really hope so well ill make sure you all know whats going on and if its been sorted by the time i go anyway guys. UPDATE i sent a mail to Larry at the lake, voiceing the concerns listed in this thread and givining him a link to it to have a look himself. The responce was swift and helpful. By the time im there in May, the current rods will be about 5 weeks old as they just replaced them all. He was personally involved in this puchase. The bivvies and beds and pods were also replaced this year. The handles were all cut off the carp un hooking mats because people were using them (plus 30lbs of water soaked up) to weigh the fish, instead of the actual weighing slings provided. This was damaging the handles on the mats, cos they aint designed to weigh wet,(HUGE) fish as we all know. Slings ARE. Therefore handles were cut off the mats to prevent pple using the mats and making them use the slings provided to weigh. Which i think is fair enough i must say. Like i say ill let you know my honest opinion when ive been, but i must say thanks to larry for the swift honest looking reply.

loonboy
Well guys i got back from the lake last friday night (we did mon - fri) i musy say i was really impressed, the staff there really go out of their way to help you, David is a legend Nashies very lucky to have a guy so committed to helping pple and making the place work and the pple catch fish. Phil (his assistant/part time baliff) is also a top bloke. Phil really ought to go full time there in my opinion, youd struggle to get better blokes ,you really would. The trips there usually run from sat- sat, so having got there on the monday i did wonder what kit and swims would be left. I can honestly say that all the pods we used and that i saw were brand new ones, they were hooligan, but i was impressed enough that i came home and have purchased one as i liked them so much. The rods i used were all hooligan xs's , they were literally brand new. Tho they wernt pursuits i can honestly say it didnt make any diffrence to me. The bivvies, beds and all the rest of the tackle was in top condition and the vast majority of stuff i saw was all new. They really have bought a lot of kit in, there was no sign of any old broken or worn out kit that i saw. Everyone on the lake caught fish that week (ALL 22 pple), the biggest was a 48 that i heard of. I myself had fish to 42 and a half pound, so i was well happy. On top of that the food was lovely and plentiful. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this venue to anyone, its really is the buisness. The only thing bad i got to say about it is that i got to wait till next year to go again =( ah well
airbornematt
Just back from Nash lake, it was fantastic. There was a 61 caught, and I think everyone had a 40+ carp, as it was my first time there, I didn't know too much about what gear to take and subsequently lost around 12-13 fish and with an average size of 30 + you can imagine how frustrated I was getting. airbornematt
I recommend barbed hooks down to a size 2, test 4's and 6's BUT I am going to take 2's back small 2's though not the nash 2's they are big enough to catch a crocodile. The baliffs are all absolutely top guys, People need to get into Davids and Toms head to get on the fish if you are having trouble. Work the swim, and get out in the boat and keep the swim feeding on the particles which are only £15 a go... Its hard work on the boat BUT well worth the rewards. As soon as you get a run, get in the boat as few snags which get you just as you think the fish is in ;-( Hot swims are, Nash Bay, Channel swim, Boards, Chateau which I fished and was awesome BUT only if kingfisher and dead tree aren't fished at same time, Dead tree and The Sanctuary. To be honest they are all awesome just ask the baliffs on the quiet before the draw is taken and they will tell you how they got on the week before and where has been producing. Anyone wanna know anything just ask!!!
loonboy
take my advice and have a quiet word in Davids ear when you get there. Ask to fish from the lodge, in the left hand side corner. Thats where the baliffs fish, thats where the lake record comes from and thats where i fished when i was there. They might allow you, they might not, but ask. No rowing for a shower or to use the toilet, and the best swim on the lake.
airbornematt
Thats where the 61 come out when we were there... Only 2 fish come from there though, all week.... BUT the 61 I'll be over there in September end of, and hopefully get on the river for a few days with David...
loonboy
to be honest they were starting to spawn i think when we left. The 42ponder i had from that corner by the lodge certainly was spawning. While iwas there i was chatting and learning a bit from "lily" the belgium female champion and lake record holder. She would have had that swim had i not. (her words) Basically if you fish by the lodge you wont get dozens of runs, but when you do , they are big fish. I lost several before landing one, mainly due to my inexperience if im honest. Id def fish the lodge if i had the chance before any other swim on that lake. And ill be back there to try and get on it again Trust me
airbornematt
Would you say that its better than the channel as I know that its a very good swim and supposebly the hardest to get onto. I dont think many ppl know that you can fish that swim unless your disabled. Thing is it must get a bit of noise with ppl going in the boats and ppl coming and going to the shop from nearby swims, dont you think??? As we had only 9 ppl on at the time we fished, I chose Dead Tree. It was too weedy to fish so I only did 1 night. But the baliffs went out and sprayed the water and believe me there was fish showing everwhere down there. I think david is getting concerned for his favourite fish 'frankenstein' thats what a few ppl said so hopefully whoever has him on will have a 50 in the sack this time. Roll on September... carpkid13
Basicaly,, i dont come on here alot but i came on to see if there was a nash post about, suprise suprise lol sorry just an answer to ^^ the above reply , not moaning just a thought.. if the fish is snagged the fish is around the lillie stem wich you say are a bomb to get through.. when your rowing out the presure will be on the stem.?. not the fish other wise after the amount of people arriving each week, catching fish/ losing fish, the same as fish when seeing rigs feeling the hook in england, they would learn as every other situation and not do it if it was bad or affected them.?.just a thought. i havent explained it well but most of you wont really belive me any way. I have been twice to the lake, both times amazing.! second time i had 14 fish. biggest being 43 and a half a 42 and half 41 common and 40. if you bought decembers copy of the monthly dvd carp tv.? they went to the lake and filmed. i got filmed with the fish & pictures... was amazing.. david was a top man with a few rewards for catching four cracking 40's. the lake is clean.! cant say more its bear.. didnt have any problems with losing fish in weed.. apart from i lost something that was easing me off the decking with easy,,, Could not stop it.!.. last 10m and it snuck in a bed of pads and the hook pulled. The food is top quality, it was my birthday on the wed that we went, cake candles and a present,, couldnt ask for more.!. i see people are questioning the rods,, i was amazed at the proformance of them. Bought fish out of pads even in the worst of conditions. David's new photo taking is brilliant. i had pics taken for each of my 40's all cracking. bought them after and the feeling you get from looking at them, remebering the lake the fish the whole place, its grate. I cant fault the place. Just saving up for the 3rd trip next year, for my 15th birthday. Cheers Rich. : )
shanef
of course it is just my opinion but when you row.. sorry... reel out to the tethered fish if it is stuck at the surface gulping with its face in the lillies, WITH NO SLACK LINE i would say with some confidence that you are in fact pulling against its mouth
