Catch reports for May

The summer has already had a great start at Martins' Lakes with 82 fish caught in 9 days even though the couple fishing were here on their honeymoon for three weeks and also found time in between fishing and ????? to go sight seeing!

Bob, from Horley in Surrey, may now be thinking he might have made a mistake marrying Tash as although she is very lovely she managed to catch the biggest fish of the week at 39lbs 8oz. They also had 6 x 30s, 26 x 20s and plenty of doubles to keep them busy........just in case their minds started wandering to other things......

Their comments were: 'perfect gite (holiday cottage), stunning views, lakes lovely and the fishing excellent. 82 fish in 9 days - couldn't ask for more. The food is excellent, thank you both Greg and Nikki who will always make sure you're ok for everything. Thank you for making our honeymoon one to remember. Wishing you all the best, we will be back Bob & Tash.

We had three parties in June (the Parkinsons, James & Rob and the Prouts).

John Parkinson had a good week with 21 fish, the largest being 39lbs common. He also managed to get his picture in Angler's Mail as they were here to do an article on the gite & coarse lake. A full write-up is available on our website.

James & Rob came when the fish were spawning for the second time so their sport was a little slower with 32 fish, biggest a 31lbs mirror.

The Prouts were here on their fifth visit and they had a great week with all three anglers having about 65 fish for the week, the best being a 41lbs 12oz mirror.

July

We had 4 parties in July (the Prouts' 2nd week, Tim Knight (Editor of Anglers mail), Addison, O'Shea)

Rob Prout finished their last week in style with 19 x 20s, 6 x 30s and one 42lbs mirror although some bigger ones were lost. Luckily, they have already booked again for next year so they can reap their revenge.

Tim Knight thoroughly enjoyed his stay here and split his time between the Coarse Lake, the Specimen Lake and sightseeing with the missus. He still managed to catch his pb which really made his week.

Richard Addison had a quiet week, again having to share his time between his fishing and family. The weather had turned colder and wetter but he stuck it out and caught 14 fish, the best being 38lbs 12oz common.

Stephen O'Shea's party had better weather and more fishing time. They ended up with 43 fish, the best of the bunch was a 43lbs 2oz mirror.

We had 4 parties in August (Cleavey, Preis, McCahill and the Lancasters.)

It was Ross's first fishing adventure in France and he had a lovely week ending in 30lb 1oz common. You can read his full report in the “fishing in France” section under the title “my time at martins lakes”

The Preis' did more sightseeing than fishing but that didn't stop them from landing 7 x 30's and a 53lb cat.

The McCahill group had a more consistent week with a total of 227 fish, biggest of the bunch being a 47lb 7oz mirror.

It was the Lancasters 5th time here and they were straight into the fish with 4 x 30's in the first day, they ended up with 178 fish between them, of course they have already booked their slot for next year.
