nickcurtis Posted July 20, 2010 Report Posted July 20, 2010 I'm out with brother in law this Friday prob for about 12-14 hour night fish and he has never been carping before I have all the gear for him but I would like Him to get a bend in his rod so which lake should I go to swangey main lake or taswood heroin lake it's got to be one of these lakes Cheers tight lines Quote
kevin991 Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 Hi Nick, Personally I would avoid Swangey main lake. This is just my opinion, others may disagree, but its not really the lake to get a bend in your rod. I have fished the 2nd lake a few times and caught some decent double figure carp. The main lake is always full and has lots of unwritten rules about how far out you can cast etc. This was how it used to be anyway, I havent fished it for a few years so might have changed. Taswood can't comment as I havent fished it. If you wanted a bend in your rod you could have tried somewhere like catch 22 that's fairly easy. Drop me a PM if I can be of any more help and good luck Quote
nickcurtis Posted July 21, 2010 Author Report Posted July 21, 2010 Cheers for the reply but I'm not a big fan of catch 22 I went last year and got very upset with the quad bike lol might have to go to taswood then if swangey is like that [edited to remove swearing] Quote
kevin991 Posted July 21, 2010 Report Posted July 21, 2010 Only too please to help. I am also not a fan of catch 22, went there about 18 months ago for a week and wasnt that impressed. Best of luck at Taswood, there are plenty of other lakes around too if you ever want to try somewhere different. Quote
nickcurtis Posted July 21, 2010 Author Report Posted July 21, 2010 I will be doing a 3 nighter soon fingers crossed lol il think il have to rack my brains of where to go cheers for the help Quote

theloner Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 you'd be better off on grove lake at taswood mate. runs water with lots of high singles, low doubles. expect a busy night Quote
dangerousbrian75 Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 i tried tazwood last summer, only for a day session though. tried the Grove too - looked great from an early morning walk around and well confident from the lillies and off the opposite bank! however, me and 2 mates all blanked and thought it was quiet hard. spoke to regulars down there who were a good bunch to be honest. i came away with the impression more of a night water, and you need to be there for 48 hours to get stuck into fish. but, that was just who the fella's i spoke too. am thinking bout this sat to sometime sunday mornin to be honest....feel the need for carp! any know how Tazwood is fishing?? nickcurtis Posted July 24, 2010 Author Report Posted July 24, 2010 I went last night for 13 hours on grove lake every swim was taken and some bloke spodding all night and me and a m8 blanked I thought it was a runs water Quote
theloner Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 it is a runs water. However the whole complex is fishing poorly at the moment. i did the night on heron couple days ago and nobody caught a thing. the fish were spawning for the 2nd time this year. someone spodding? what an idiot. needless Quote
dangerousbrian75 Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 nice. next weekend it is then. thinking woodlakes near downham market, but i did love the look of tazwood when there. could be the local lakes tmorrow i think. anyone tried dents at hilgay? its on my doorstep, but have fished it too often. need somewhere new - with bigger carp....
