nash_gadgeteer Posted April 5, 2010 Report Share Posted April 5, 2010 Done a fair bit on the Nene, the embankment can be good but also along the north bank out towards the dog and doublet pub / sluice gate. As for spots, in town on the far bank, near any boats and overhanging trees/bushes will be a good start. Prebaiting works very well and lots of patience. Size wise i never have had a carp smaller than 20lbs, and the biggest was last year at 33lbs. There is a fish ladder at the sluice and a rumour was that a large carp 40+ went pass the webcam that is in the ladder, so there are a few lumps floating around, but you do need to look and use watercraft. This is the only time i use a baitboat as the boat owners will get a bit cheesed off if you put a 4oz lead through there boat. Talking of boats a backlead is a must to pin the line down to the bottom. Hope that helps, might get down there myself at the start of the season...
