  1. Hi guys a friend of mine uses this to cover the knots on his hair rigs and on the hook shank to hold the hair and I want to order some to do the same job but don't know what size internal diameter to get. The tubing im looking at has a selection of internal diameters between 0.5 - 3mm. Could someone please recommend a size to get?. Thank you.
  2. Well ive just had a quick look and was impressed too and have bookmarked it so I can learn all those rigs, thanks. Will send the link to 'Taddy' too
  3. Don't know the make Tim, they just came with our outfits. My mesh is smaller than my boys that's all I know. Might be worth taking them down the local tackle shop and let one of the carp boys have a look I suppose.
  4. Hi guys last time I went carping I caught one but it got one of the bones in its fins tangled in my landing net. I carefully cut the net away from the fin and let it go and repaired the net last week. Well ive just got back from a 24hr session with my boy and the same thing happened, twice in fact, I ended up not using my net as I wondered if there was a problem with it so started sharing my boys but then the same thing happened to him. We must be doing something wrong but I don't know what, anyone got any ideas?
  5. Thanks for that mate. Will pass on the info. Might have to pop down with him to show him how to do it haha
  6. This is a post for my boy really but he's come across these lakes near where he lives but doesn't know much about them so wondered if anyone on here has fished them or knows anything about them? Thanks guys.
  7. Morning guys a friend of mine is going here in the next few days and I wondered if anyone knew how its fishing or could give any info on the place and whether the crayfish problem that weve heard about is under control or not. Thanks.
  8. To be honest I don't know what the hook pattern was, they were just some size 8's I picked up off fleabay. I mainly use a running rig and fish commercial waters so if anyone could recommend a good hook pattern that would be appreciated
  9. Yeah all what your saying makes sense, at the time I had lost about 4 carp on the trot and this was just what my mate said to try. I must admit trying to keep the hair on the curved bit of the hook and so nearer the barb made sense to me but I could be wrong.
  10. Morning guys, last time I was fishing my mate said I should put a bit of tubing over the windings on the hook of my hair rigs [ the hair was flapping about a bit I must admit haha] so ive had a look on fleabay but they come in different diameters so not sure what size to get? Im using size 8 hooks by the way. Also as an average how long should the hair be? My mate said mine were a bit short but didn't really tell me how long they should be. Thanks guys.
  11. Have a look at my thread a bit further down the page entitled 'the mills' mate

  15. Well I had decided on spring lake at tasswood lakes or adams at cobbleacre but one of my mates keeps sending me links to lovely looking lakes nearby and my head starts spinning again  Did go on a 24hr works jolly to spring lake at tass last weekend and had a great time, 7 of us fished and I caught 8 or 9, only small but I was happy. Only problem was it was a very cold frosty night and I was freezing!!!!!! in the middle of the night I did consider giving up carping and taking up something like stamp collecting which I could do in the warm haha
  16. Just as a follow up question has anyone fished or know anything about costessey pits which are nearby? Thanks guys. http://taverham-mill/page4.htm
  17. Hi guys yet another venue question for you all. Has anyone fished Taverham Mill Lake or know what its like? The website makes it look a lovely place but cant find much info on it. Thanks. http://www.taverham-mill.com/page2.htm
  18. Or you could try tasswood, you have to book to fish here as they limit the number of anglers on each lake so may be possible to hire the whole lake, never fish it but giving it a try myself in May http://www.taswoodlakes.co.uk/
  19. Morning, a group of my work mates booked the carp lake for their exclusive use last year on this site, don't think they caught much though, they said it was a hard water. http://stanninghalllakes.com/
  20. Anyone fished here or know what its like? Thanks http://www.felthorpelakes.co.uk/lakes.html
  21. Im fishing adams lake at cobbleacre on a works jolly next weekend, never fished it before so could anyone tell me what approach to take?. Thanks.
  22. Anyone fished here or know what its like?. I'm looking for a day ticket lake fairly near Norwich for a works jolly in about a months time, some of us want to pike fish, some carp and some silverfish so looking for a water which would suite everyone. Thanks http://www.spotfish.co.uk/fishery/swangey-lakes
  23. Hi again guys yet another club im thinking of joining, just wondered if anyone's ever been in this club and what are their waters like? Thanks. http://www.ddac.info/coarse/home.html
  24. I joined this club many years ago when I was into general float fishing and had a great time in the club pit, my son got the bug here too by me taking him when he was small. Anyway just wondered how all the lakes fish these days especially what the carping is like? Seems membership is pretty good value considering the size of the waters and might join up again http://www.harlestonanglingclub.co.uk/Lakes.php
  25. I must admit what ever type of fishing I do I do prefer to fish with a buddy or 2 although sometimes go on my own, as has been said I learn a lot from my mates but also enjoy the social side of fishing and the banter
