  1. They are all true mate unfortunatly
  2. Matt, ive fished valdore loads of times so take my advice.... Take your bait with you. The bait they supply is limited and over priced for what it is. You dont needs kilo's of boilies to fish valdore, just a load of maize and pellet and some tigers and a few boilies.
  3. IMO peg 20 is the best peg on lake 3. loads of water and a good marginal line to fish. The trains and noise are not that bad mate and you soon get use to them. The superU is about a 10 min drive down the road and they stock everthing you would expect to find in Tesco over here.
  4. Hi Sniffer, ive never fished peg 16 but have fished 15 twice in the past. peg 16 shares control of the "no fishing end" of lake 2 with peg 9, by that i mean there are no swims along the bottom bank so 16 and 9 have all the margin. you say you and a mate are in there, well its a single swim so it will be tight for two fishing it mate. If there is alot of disturbance on the rest of the lake, like spodding etc, i have found that the fish move to the bottom end and sit over a big silt/bloodworm bed so this could work in your favour . Dont get me wrong, 16 does produce fish and usually some bigger fish but dont expect runs every hour!!. My advice would be to get ya mate moved out to share another swim and keep yourself in there and stay quiet, tell everyone else to spod like mad and let them drive the fish down to you . Then just feed small bags or little beds of bait in the areas you see them bubbling. As for the bait boat, yes it will help you but you dont need one. You can walk along the bottom bank and catapult your baits out to your marker quite easily butyou may need it for smaller bait like pellet and partiblend.
  5. To be fair Dan all of what you say is true, but, Valdore always stock their lakes over winter and they do put alot of fish in. The first time i went there i had the same expeirance as you did with dead fish poping up, when i asked the owners what was going on he said that the lake had just been restocked a couple of weeks ago and it was finding its natural balance. I returned 3 months later and there was not a sign of any sick or dead fish. Im supprised about the bird life on the lake as most french lake owners shoot the birds. The swims are "natural" by this i mean they are areas of bank that get used all season and are not maintained at all, i wouldnt say they are crap, just like 1000's of swims around this country. I am always suspect about the quoted size of the lakes at Valdore, the only one i think is close is lake 1. Again, im supprised that you found the industrial site to be noisy, i have been there 5 times and didnt really notice it at all. The train track is between lakes 1, 2, 3 and 4,5. The closes swims are as you say swims 17 and 20 on lake 3. The train only runs 5 or 6 times a day and they are small urban 2 car shuttles which are gone in a flash but can be a pain when they rush past. Ive always moaned to the owners about the facilities on the site, 2 toilets and a shower for 35 swims aint enough, but they are there and functional. The cafe is just that, a cafe. It is not an onsite lodge for the use of anglers only and yes the prices of the tackle and bait are a joke and would deffo not buy any of it from there. But the food aint bad unless it has gone up. As for the guys who are there, i found them to be quite helpful if you ask them and they will come round to your swim if you want them to. But you are right, all they are interested in is your money. As for the fishing, i dont think you can blame the complex for the results you had, no one can guarentee a hauling session. As you know Dan, i like Valdore and will continue to go back there for the time being. Its cheap, close and has some very big fish in all the lakes
  6. Best pegs by far are 14 and 15. Worst pegs are 16 and 9. Dont spod!! you will only drive the fish away. Take some tigernuts, maggots, fake maize and halibut pellets with you as these are the prefered baits. Pegs 12 and 13 can get weedy but the rest of the lake is ok. Lots of big hungary fish so dont skimp on the bait.
  7. The lake has got some big fish in and if they are hungary they will eat more than you can take mate. My norm is 25k of pellet, 25k of hemp and 20k of boillies.
  8. Come on Gary...........MUSH, you must of heard of it, are you ok mush?
  9. Hi Neil, ive fished the place 3 times so far and am booked on it again in Aug. I currently hold the lake record at 65lb 14oz and also witnessed my mate take the record common at 60lb 2oz. The best method i have found is to be quiet and let the fish settle. Deffo no spods and try to reduce the casting. The fish will find your baits and feed at some time mate.
  10. Good luck mate, i know you will have a few
  11. Thats an argument in itself. I have never had a scale lift off when not using tubing. You dont use tubing for your floater fishing and no one says anything about that. Unfortunatly Tony, i have.
  12. And of course to protect the fish from the line lifting scales or causing other damage.
  13. Unfortunatly Tony you are right in some cases. But we both know the tackle dont make the angler. The experience does however. GAP hit the nail on the head when he said the best way to do it is to rent the entire lake and choose your mates to join you.
  14. sounds great lee, but what about your tackle, it must cost a fortune to take it all with you and if you rent it you just dont know what you are getting until you arrive. And by then its too late.
  15. Valdore is drive and survive only, by that i mean no food package. But you can get food there every day from the cafe. Daft i know but you can not book a food package as far as i know. Vallee, yes ive fished it and would choose valdore out of the 2 of them, valdore is 5 mins down the road from Vallee and half the price with 5 times as many lakes to choose from.
  16. What size do the fish get to in the canals in Holland mate, heard stories of some real good fish but never seen the proof. I guess if the fish aint seen boillies then the maize and sweetcorn approach would work, but it may be interesting to introduce some boilies into one or two spots to see how they react to them.
  17. With the new season fast approaching for the european fishing. I was wondering who had trips planned and where are they off to. Maybe our more seasoned euro anglers could give some hints and tips on fishing abroard including equipment that may get overlooked and traveling tips.
  18. Yes mate, in fact i fished lake 4 the following year with the misses, we had 51 fish between us up to 27lb
  19. Of course mate, PM me your email address and i'll see what ive got. I wouldnt worry to much about sticking the bait in, they are eating machines and need a bed of bait to get them going.
  20. Ive fished lake 3 three times so far and really enjoyed each time. Ive had loads of fish from there up to mid 30's. There are no real features in the lake with the exception of the margins. The fish love bait so dont be afraid to put it in. My favourite swim is peg 20, it has nice deep margins and plenty of water to fish to. You also have access to the unpegged right end of the lake which is a good fish holding area. My tactics are to put a big bed of bait out in front of me about 40-50 yards out and fish 2 rods on it, a third rod goes against the right margin and a 4th is a roamer rod fished with PVA bags fished to the left of the baited area. Dont forget to take some tigers and maize with you as they love them. Have fun mate and im sure you bag a few.
  21. Ive heard that the weed problem has been sorted now mate so you shouldnt have to much problem. I fished lake 4 the first year it opened and between me and my wife we had 52 fish to 27lb. We did have a number of sturgeon in that figure but only about a dozen. If the weed has been sorted then you will be in for some busy times mate.
  22. Ahhh, remember it well mate.
  23. If the fish have been fed on Quest bait for the last 5 years they now recognise it as a good food source so i would take that. It will take a while for them to turn onto something different and if they do you can always get a few k from the bailiff
  24. Take some ear plugs cos that gravel works is NOISY. The bad news is it starts up at 5:30 AM but the good news is it ends at 5:30PM. you should get 1 free day of it cos they stop work saturday lunch time and dont start till monday morning. I totally hated the place and will never go back. Yes the food is good but i can go to a resturant for that. For me, fishing is about relaxing in quiet surroundings enjoying being there and Lake Sebastion is far far from that. It amazes me how they have the jewls to charge people to fish the place at the moment. rant over
