Im fishing a canal in the midlands for carp and was wondering if anyone has any tips?

Thanks for the replys and it is something i will bear in mind, it is a stunning lake. i ahd a walk round today and their was literally a hundred carp cruising on top near the carp on the field side bout 10 yards out, few of the peeps fishing had struggled. any favoured rigs?

I was looking at this lake on the website and thinking of going within the next week, would anybody be able to give me info on baits, rigs and good pegs that work best? Thanks
