  1. Do you mean what used to be the selby 3 lakes complex mate.? If so, i heard all the biggies came out of the day ticket water and where put into the syndicate water after the owners split the lake after their divorce........still a poular syndicate from what i gather but the day ticket water isnt so hot from what ive been told.......

  2. Unbelievable read, need more like this...any recommendations?

Have you read " attack state red" mate.?

Its written by colonel richard kemp & chris hughes.......

Its about the royal anglians tour of afghan in 2007......very very good read......not sure if it still is but at the time it was the worst tour to date in terms of the amount of lads lost in action since the afghan war started......highly recommend it....

  3. I was just asking because I didn't know :D but now I do. I've used the rig a couple of times with a pop up just wondering if it could be used with a bottom bait.

Oh right, sorry mate I thought you'd come up with something I didn't understand

But yeah its a pop up rig mate.....

  4. Its not a rig I use a lot, but why would you want to use it with a bottom bait mate.? The hinge is designed to allow the rig to sit up from the boom section...... If it was used with a bottom bait, the hinge becomes redundant and you might as well do away with it all together.......

  5. Ive fished both...... Id give Oaklands a miss mate. Swims are very narrow, the owner has rammed as many as he possibly can onto an already small water...... If you do go though try to get on the Railway side, the swims are a little wider but still not good........Once you get used to the trains running through the night its not too bad.

Emmotland is a very nice place, the fish are lovely and the setting is very very nice....... the drawbacks.....The pegs on the Carp lake are very small and cut into the bankside. I have a 1 man bivvy and I basically had one step outside the bivvy and then you where in the water.... the carp lake is set up for bait boats not casting......there where only 2 pegs on the whole lake that you can cast from because of overhangs above you. if you can live with that though and you have a boat then Id definately give it a go though because it really is a stunning place with stunning fish......

The cats lake is more set up for casting though and apparently has carp to mid 20's ...I havent fished it though.

  6. pot noodle carp are carp that are carp that are stocked at big weights or gain big weights with in few years. instant big carp!

And the way otters are going they are desimating waters all that will be left will be lakes that have otter proof fencing! as ci said thats a different issue.

Oh right  ..... never heard that before.

  7. Ive just bought some and have spent the last hour playing about with different materials (It was either that or work ).......Seem to be fine, with everything but braid, and the soft coated braid..... But one thing is confusing me.... I know they dont recommend usage on Flouro or making loops with them but Ive just made three 6" legnths of flouro with loops on both ends, just to test and on all 3 i managed to snap each legnth pretty much in the centre of the flouro. no-where near the actual crimp, and none of the loops gave way either. I was using pullers and in my opinion I wasnt putting as much pressure on the flouro as i normally do when im normally setting my knots....

Am I missing something obvious here,,, but I'm pretty sure i wasnt putting enough pressure on the line to snap it, so why would it go centrally. ??

    Grim.....

  8. Snell or Domhoff knot is the way to go, like Doug says only twice through the eye. Personally seeing as the hook is sitting below the bait i like to use a bigger hook and very rarely go below a 5 or a six. Had nearly 50 fish in the last few weeks with most of them being mid double size all on size 6s with 15mm pop ups.

Matching the hook to the bait is s big part of the chod rig in my eyes. I like to use the biggest hook I can and as you say jez, a 6 is great with a 15mm popup. If using a 'tic tac' I like to drop to an 8 or even 9. That's when I drop down to the ultima link.

Jamie - one of the most buoyant popups I've ever seen that doesn't contain cork!

At the risk of making myself look very stupid.......What is a Tic-Tac.?

I shouldnt have to ask this considering I was on the social when mick took the place apart on them.......but i'm very good at taking no notice of things i should be looking at.....:lol:

  9. Cromwell Lake, Newark:

Fishing an event up there very soon, any useful info on the place would be greatly recieved...

I know it has foreign fish in it, but thats where the event is being held...

Please PM me whatever information you have

You and me both mate :lol:

All we seem to know so far is that it's got some stonking fish in there, it's weedy, It looks like a cracking venue and the majority of the locals fish it with bait boats.........have a look at the Northern social (pics added) thread mate, thats where we are headed in 3 weeks time.....
