  1. am a big fan of the suffix range at the moment - sheath skin - kameleon and black silt I have found that the outer skin on kik-bak does have a tendancy to move up and down the rig once used for a bit
  2. not a massive fan myself - but I am forced to use it in france due to the fishery rules Which RIG TUBING?
  3. I use the ESP bags they seem best value for money too - they seem quite thick to look at but I can g'tee that they are FULLY broken down within about 3 mins, whatever the weather. Never had much success in the cold with ANY of the mesh type PVA How frustrating to leave a rod out all night, only to bring it in covered in pva, that would make me soooo mad
  4. will do mate, take it easy! We are leaving later this evening so I will txt you tomorrow with an update
  5. my best weight so far is 18.5Lb, Jay was there. Caught in the middle of the night whilst pi**ing down with rain. Gave a cracking scrap, both of us thought it was much bigger, but was good fun
  6. I have fished this water for the past two years, more reguilalry this summer. Jay will hopefully back me up on this one, but I really rate wyreside. Its stocked with a number fo good sided carp, averaging approx 16-19Lb (right Jay?) with some good 20's and 1 or 2 30's too, with a couple of cats in the mix as well. Its a beautiful water, with features to fish to in every peg, although one slight criticism is that some pegs are a little close together and in the busier months, mid week fishing is advisable as at weekends it can get 'stitched up' Peg wise, they are all labellled, I have fished both ends of the lake (pegs 1 and 2) and (peg 7, 8, 9) and would say, on reflection, that the top end of the lake is most productive (7,8,9,10). The top end is the deepest end, so at this time of year could well be the way forward We have caught fish on all manor of baits, havent we Jay! Although the last session proved particulalry productive on fusion biollies. Other recommended baits are maize and pepperarmi. I have found the bottom to be quite weedy so have had success on popped up baits. Hopefully Jay can add some more info as he is much more epxerienced angler than me and has fished the venue a lot more regulalry Good luck!
  7. Thought that was you Jay, how you doing? Sorry I cant make the session next week but off to linear tomorrow evening, looking forward to it. Keep in touch mate Phil Best of luck at Wyre!
  8. I got some of the new ESP stuff the other day, it looks brown enough with a bit of camo to distguise the leadcore
  9. thanks for yuor help lads! As its my first time, I think I am going to stick with one of two options, the medussa rig and the one where you thread the maggots onto floss and attach using a rig ring on the hair.
  10. stupid question but what colour magots are most effective for big carp? Red or White
  11. thanks for the replay botulism, heard a lot about these clips, how do they work?
  12. Not seen a lot on this forum about maggot rigs, this is something I am goin to be experimenting with over the forthcoming months Can anyone point me to either a web site on somewhere with clear instructions (and pics pref) on how to tie a variety of maggot rigs? Thanks in advance (I am already aware of the 'medussa' rig but would still like some advice on tying it)
  13. first post on this forum, been a member for ages and today decided to "take the plunge!", so HI everyone Read a lot on this forum about different materials, I personally have used weighted tubing in the past (but found it a bit of a pain to work with) I am now using Lead core and think it's excellent but cant help feeling that a clearer and thinner material such as flouro carbon will only prove more effective on the heavily pressured day ticket waters I am fishing Can someone give me the positives and negatives of all the materials above and provide some advice on using flouro carbon as a shock leader?
