  1. http://www.ribvalleyfishinglakes.co.uk/ This is just off the A10, Stevanage turn off A602. This is a great place to take your girlfriend as it has toilets and is a very pleasant place to fish. The guys in the tackle shop are really friendly and helpful.
  2. Rib Valley Lakes are round the corner from you on the A602 Stevanage turn off from the A10. I'm sure they'll be open over New Year. Well worth popping into the tackle shop there and having a chat with Neil or any of the staff. Very helpful and friendly place.
  3. A couple of clubs could be worth looking up: Try, Palmers Green Angling Society and Hollow Angling Society. Hollow have a couple of lakes in Epping Forest and PGAS have a lovely estate lake at Forty Hall, Enfield. Both clubs are members of Turnford Consortium so you do get plenty of choice. Not sure on age limits though. Good Luck
  4. Thanks Lakespear that is really informative. I've got a ticket for Slipe Lane and Brookfield this year but as Keenook suggests I will look forward to grabbing it by the balls in the future. Thanks chaps.

    Bonjour

And what would really make the trip would be tuning in your radio to listen to The Irons back in The Premier League. Enjoy.
  6. Stove, kettle, gas are the sort of thing I forget.
  7. Just had a walk around a small part of Meads (all in all it's huge) and spoke to a guy fishing it confirming it's difficulty. However you can drive up to the swims and it is quite nice. North Met pit on the other hand has really poor access from the Cheshunt side. It would mean parking the other side of the level crossing and then carting all your gear across the line going through two awkward gates. I think it would be a right pain unless you were fishing for a long session, plus there are no toilets for miles (not bad if you like digging holes) and it's in a public park. I think I may need a bit more experience as well, so another year of day tickets and Slipe lane pits will be in order.
  8. Unfortunately Lee Valley have separate permits for each of Bowyers, Met, Meads Faba and Ashley making it a pretty expensive year if you fished more than one (each approx £150 pa). Am going to try and have a look at Met and Meads today if I get time. LV Fisheries have recommended getting on the waiting list for Met first (I think Meads would be available). As I'm fairly new to Carping it may be worthwhile putting in another year or two on day ticket waters. Thanks Newmarket for being so honest, food for thought. So, Meads, Met or Day Tickets. The more I think the harder it gets.
  9. I'm local to both waters and will be able to get a ticket for Nazeing and get on the list for North Met, There are other waters locally (Bowyers, Ashley, Glen Faba) but am really interested in the main two. Has anyone got any info on either as I'm currently fishing Slipe Lane and would like something a bit better. What should I do? I must say that the guys at Lee Valley Fishing have been really good at replying to my requests and I can always go and have a chat. But still nice to hear you anglers. Any advise would be great guys. Cheers, Gerry
  10. Has anybody fished at The Railway recently or any other of the pits at Turnford. I have blanked the two or three times I've been there but have read reports on how easy it is over there. I have thought about doing a night there but it does seem a bit dodgy and hasn't any facilities at all (ie, bogs).
  11. Could it possibly be located within Spurs training groung as that has been built since you left the area?
  12. dclabon, where exactly is Manor House Farm as I'm quite local but have no idea where it is.
  13. Try this. Got it booked for September and think it's well booked up but looks nice. http://www.churchwoodfisheries.co.uk/
  14. I have sort of stumbled upon this water even though I live locally (forgive me, I'm pretty new). It's about 25 acres, no made up swims and I've never seen anyone fishing it. I know it is fished on a Lee Valley Permit which for this water only costs £49 (roughly). When I contacted the Fisheries dept for Lee Valley, who were really helpful, they told me they sold only a few tickets. From what I can gather it does have some lovely carp in it but as so few fish it there tends to be no news. Asked in Johnson Ross and the guys there, also really helpful, said it was pretty weedy and because there is no night fishing it is really rarely fished. Do any of you guys out there have anymore info about the place because it just looks like you could almost have the place to yourself all year and for £40 odd looks good. Cheers Gerry
  15. Does anyone have any info on the lakes that comprise the Fishers Green Consortium. They are Seventy Acre, Hooks Marsh and Langridge Lake. My club membership allows me to fish there but there seems to be little info available. There is certainly a lot of water available to fish but I'm not sure of how well the individual lakes are stocked . Any news would be good. I believe Langridge Lake is the better carp lake, but not sure.
