1gmann replied to blipp's topic in UK Venues and Where to Fish
i did mate but i only went for the day and only had a couple of bream, i didn't even see any sign of the big carp, quite disappointed really although my dad had a great day catching crucian on the method. -

Oh right, i didn't realise that you could get a season ticket for sale, i thought it was just a day/night ticket place. Has it been sorted out now then because i'd heard a few stories about people getting their tackle stolen a couple of years back. Yep i do night fish but that extra cost isn't an issue when compared to what i will save over a season compared to day ticket places. Not overly fussed about catching massive fish but on the other hand don't want tiddlers either. I think having a choice of waters is the most appealing part of being in a club because then i can pick a venue to suit what sort of mood i'm in i.e. hard waters with big fish to give me a challenge or an easy water if i'm in need of a morale boost, if you get me. Thanks for all the feedback by the way, it's exactly what i was after and is good to talk to someone helpful. -
I'm not trying to start a fight as the title of the thread may suggest but am merely trying to decide which of these clubs to join, if indeed any? So i'm after some feedback and opinions from existing members regarding which club is the better, which has the better waters and which is the best value for money. Also and maybe most importantly if i join one of these clubs do i stand any chance of actually getting on to the waters? Or are they busy all the time?

So is it hard to get on the waters then? Because that's what i was afraid of, the thought of paying just £40 per annum for a choice of good waters seems ideal, but would i be able to get on whenever i turn up? I'm afraid of paying my £80 to join and getting all geared up only to find the lake(s) is/are full when i arrive. Do you know anything about Lymm Anglers? I assume they are a very popular club too? Never fancied Sale Water Park due to it's past security issues. Plus it's the day ticket prices again. -

Yeh there's not an awful lot to choose from really, plus i've done the day tickets to death. Think i'm going to go for either Warrington or Lymm, they're the favourites at the moment anyway. -

I've just done a search for Doddington and they seem to have a lot of association with Cudmore, is it the same people who own it? Cudmore are my pet hate as far as day ticket waters and commercial fisheries are concerned and are a big factor in me wanting to join a club now. On my last visit to Cudmore the bank sides of ALL the lakes were littered in rubbish and as a result the place was crawling with rats. I bagged my rubbish up as i normally do and took it with me at the end of my session to put in the bin near to the reception/shop/cafe area (only because there are no bins provided near to the lakes) only to be told that i can't put my rubbish in the bin and i have to take it with me, "you're joking" i said "you mean you don't provide bins for your paying customers?" i asked surprised, "nope" replied the bloke working at the time, "well no wonder this place is like a rubbish dump then" i said as i walked out, the place is a joke. Sorry about that, rant over. -
I'm looking for a club/syndicate within a short driving distance of Stockport. I'm after a nice carp water(s) with no public walking about/dog walkers etc, somewhere that i can fish nights and doesn't have the risk of getting my tackle pinched *ouch* I regularly travel to places like Macclesfield and Congleton or Warrington and Northwich to various day ticket waters so 30(ish) miles driving is the norm' but i wouldn't want to be travelling for more than an hour regularly to fish. I know some very nice day ticket waters but it can work out quite costly over a year when fishing regularly so would rather join a club/syndicate now i think. Also i've started to get sick of seeing rubbish and discarded tackle left on the bank side of day ticket waters. If anyone can suggest anywhere then i'd be grateful. Thanks in advance.

Best carp waters in Cheshire/Greater manchester
1gmann replied to deano19980's topic in UK Venues and Where to Fish
I can suggest Gawsworth Hall, Wall Pool Lodge, Off Church Lane, Gawsworth, Macclesfield SK11 9RQ - 01260 223442 or Roman Lakes in Marple http://www.romanlakes.co.uk/ There's a bit of everything at Gawsworth with about 5 lakes and Roman Lakes is just the one large lake. There's also a small food shop and tackle shop at Roman Lakes but no shops at Gawsworth. I'm also looking for a club/syndicate within a short driving distance of Stockport if anyone can suggest something. I'm looking for a nice carp water(s) with no public walking about, that can do nights and doesn't have the risk of getting my tackle pinched *ouch* -

Not caught much on there at all this year but then again i've only been about 4 times. My rods are firmly tucked away for the winter now, it's pretty grim out there -

suppose it could've been? just took it to be a grass carp at the time with it being so green and having a funny small mouth. it was a fish either way. -

I wouldn't have a clue about when he put them in. It wasn't very big, it was probably only about 5lb max but that's just a guess. Looked like it had been caught a few times though because it's mouth was a bit misshapen and scarred. -

Alright lads, i went on friday arrived at lunch time and stayed until saturday lunch time. friday was really nice and sunny when we got there but then it started to rain at about 6pm and didn't really stop then until morning. i had a bream, a small grass carp and i slightly bigger mirror that was probably reaching the 9/10lb mark. I also missed a couple in the night due to not being able to get out of my sleeping bag quick enough. My mate also had a chub and a barbel. All in all it wasn't an amazing day/night but we didn't blank and we didn't get too wet and it beat the hell out of being in work. -

Only been on there once this year so far (see above), but i'm meant to be going this friday and staying until saturday evening but i've just checked the weather on metcheck and the headline on the homepage reads "European Monsoon" I'll put a post on after the weekend and let you know how wet i got. -

Didn't really put that much bait in TBH, it seemed to be fairly pointless once we realised there was little chance of catching so we just got the beers out and lit the bbq We didn't see them spawning, infact we didn't see anything. I don't really know what they do when they spawn or how long it lasts etc. but we assumed they were all cream crackered? It's a shame if he has taken some out but it sounds feasible. We used spicy shrimp and prawn boilies which usually get some interest and seem to be favourite on there. Also i put some pellets and groundbait into a pva sausage and threaded onto a 6" hooklink. I've caught a few on there before using this method, but you can't win every time i suppose. It's not put me off though, i've just booked the 15th off work so i can go back and try again, yeh! -

Got there Friday at 12 noon and left Saturday 3pm without so much as a single bleep Apparently the fish were spawning and not interested in much else. I didn't see or hear anyone else around the lake get anything either so at least i know it wasn't just me. -

Me and my mate will each have a 1kg bag of spicy shrimp and prawn boilies (probably won't get through all that though). Also got various pellets and groundbaits to make a nice mixture for some sticks. I keep checking the weather and it looks like i might be getting wet!
