    Not fished a lake with them in for a while, but used to fish a lake that held quite a few. For a while bait boats were allowed on the lake, during this period I think more grassies got caught, they seemed to like the dense concentration of bait, especially particles. If you can use a baitboat it might work on your lake, if not trying to replicate the tight, densely baited spot might work. Bait wise peanuts, tigers and boilies all worked for me.

    Two flavours stand out to me in winter, tutti frutti and rosehip, but even better either work brilliantly when combined with solars squid and octopus.

    Thanks very much Nige, but I still have 150m of the unwaxed floss so it might be a while before I need anymore.

    Yonny, It was more about the unwaxed stuff gripping pop ups better than the waxed variety when you tied them on...as you say I wouldn't think the wax affects the fish it's the physical properties that were important

    Back in the day the view was that the unwaxed was the best, but I've not seen any about for ages, but not too much of a problem as I stocked up when it got. Interestingly now the unwaxed is not readily available the tackle firms are saying waxed is better...yeh right, no it isn't.... but currently beggars can't choosers

    Very well run club, good waters but remember it's days only.

    A very good well run club but not a carp club as such and no night fishing other than a small number of night tickets. They have three well stocked waters and the other has the bigger fish but all are mixed fisheries.

    They are a match oriented club so tend to overstock their lakes which rather restricts the size potential of their fish. But it is very well run club and they don't treat carp anglers as second class citizens like a lot of match clubs. They would get a thumbs up from me.

    Probably chub, the staffs worcs is full of them. Congrats on the result a 15lber is good for the canal in the wolves area.

    Closed....opens in June, weekend before the 16th I think
