Just returned from a fantastic trip. Landed over 80 fish, commons, mirrors and some monster grassies. Nearly 30 over 30, best fish a stunning 50.08 (to my 11 year old, lucky so and so)
The big fish are definately not dead. I fished there last year and saw one of the local lads catch 2 x 40 and a 58 common in one night. This year one of the other locals showed me a pic of the lake record, a 61 mirror caught September 08.
The owners are lovely people and very concerned to make sure everyone has a good time. It is well worth listening to Didier, his advice did me proud.
He was telling me that he does stock the lake every year with a top-up of 20s. None of his big fish have died and there now over 1000 carp in 25 acres.
All the fish come from his own stock ponds and he has been breeding fish since Bill and Ben were seeds, so he has no need to buy in and spoil the strain. The fish are in fantastic condition and the 20s especially fight like hell. I don't know why that is but they give a better account than the 40s and the 50 we caught. 20 and 30 yard runs and a scrap last lasts forever.
I found it quite easy to avoid the cats, by steering clear of fishmeal, meat and oils. Particles work well and fruit flavours.
Absolutely brilliant place. Can't wait to go back and would recommend anyone to give it a go.
