  1. Hi Dubs I fished white springs with 2 mates for a week (17th August onwards) and ther was only a handful of people on the speci water. It is a beautiful place and I cant really fault it in any way whatsoever. The bailiff is a really nice bloke who will help you in any way that he can the same goes for the owner the only downside was his wife who was a bit miserable but from what I could gather she wanted to sell up and retire but her old man aint having none of it lol There are loads of food outlets nearby and most of them deliver to the pool and they give you a call over the tannoy when they get there The fishing was hard whilst we were there but i managed to break my P.B so I was happy enough (19.6lb)got told this was one of the tiddlers though. I believe from talking to the bailiff and looking on the net that the welsh record comes from there and that fish aint been out for 18 months + so theres the potential to get your name up in lights if you can catch it now. All the best mate J
  2. thanks welder I was thinking about doing a day or a night on here but I,ve never really seen anyone fishing them so I thoght they might not be much good. Looks like I was wrong lol. I agree with the electric power lines though a bit to close for my liking aswell. One of my customers lives in one of the barn conversions at the top and knows the farmer who owns it so I,ll ask him if he,ll put a word in so I can maybe put a night or 2 in soon. thanks again mate j
  3. Welder......... Have you fished the pools in lea marston by the golf club mate and if so are they any good??? Blackgreaves I think they are called???? cheers j
  4. Is that the Dingles near Coleshill your refering to mate ??? If so and no one knows why i,ll try and pop down there and find out for you mate as I work locally to it.
  5. thanks for your reply nash, Am i right in thinking that todber has a lot of weed on the bottom and is quite a hard water ?? Sure I read this on another site (or maybe this one) I might be wrong though as I,ve been trawling the web for weeks looking for suitable venues cheers
  6. Hi all, I,m looking at doing a 4 day session next week and wondered which of the following you would fish??????? 1 Milton Pools 2 White Springs lakes 3 Todber 4 Celtic Lakes After spending some time doing some research(cause I knew if I posted a Where To Fish someone would have told me to to ) all of the above mentioned have fish into the 20,s which are good as my pb is a mid double. There will be 3 of us fishing and would like to fish fairly close together so were not to far from the rods if were having a natter. So come on lads which ones my best bet to catch a few on a nice pool with some nice scenery??????????? thanks
  7. Hi mate I,ve fished norton swag for 20 years and all I,ve had out is one ghost carp !!! I,ve seen pictures recently of fish that have come out( biggest one was 22lb) but these were caught in an area whilst the fish were spawning and I dont agree with that Hopefully thie next few weeks I,m gonna stick my canadian canoe on there and clear an area of weed of it as its quite bad at the moment !!!! I just aint sure how to hit it bait wise at the moment as theres a lot of natural bait in there and they seem to turn their noses up at boilies and pellets . Word of warning though about the swag , over the last few months I,ve seen a few polish lads fishing this and from what I,ve been told they have took quite a few tench ,pike and roach out !!!! Suppose looking at it its not such a bad thing the carp are difficult to catch at least it should stop them being removed
  8. I dont think its the birdlife on here cause over the last 3 years the fishing on here is getting better and better I reckon it just needs to be fished more. Going back onto the carp I,m going to fish about 200 yards down from the speedboat club and as your a local lad Paul you reckon its worth prebaiting or will it be as waste of time and bait with so much birdlife on here?? cheers mate
  9. Again as strange as it might seem I,ve never heard of any bream coming out either and there aint none in jeffreys swag which flows into it ! I,d agree with Paul with regards to it being heavily fished years ago and I can remember competitions on these pools and there was always anglers on here on a weekend cause me and my mates used to go over all the time and sit and watch them. I think this is what triggered my fishing habit today well that and a nagging missus For some reason when the opencast mine between norton and heath hayes was being dug a lot of brown sludge worked its way into these pools and it left a heavy dirty sediment on the bottom and it was around this time that the fishing seemed to go really poor on here! Its only been the last few years that the fishing on here has got much better and its now possible to catch roach and perch again. Last year me and my mate had a keepnet full of fish on the pole which is something you would not have done over the last 10 years or so! The only fish Iknow that reside in these pools are roach, perch, tench, eel, pike and carp. I also remember big bullheads and crayfish but these dont seem to have returned.
  10. Oh and if I put a sleeper rod out for the alleged cats in here would a popped up bunch of worms be better or a big chunk of meat or even a small roach live/dead bait ? cheers guys .
  11. Hi, I,m hoping to do a few days on here soon as Ihave some time off work and might be doing a night on here this weekend with 5 or 6 mates but we are going to try different pegs this time and try to cover more water. Does anybody think it will be a good idea to prebait a swim for a few days prior to fishing? Im not really sure if prebaiting on such a big water is effective with all the birdlife? With regard to the catfish as I,ve mentioned before I,ve lived close to Chasewater all my life and I,ve heard the storys about catfish but dont know of any that have come out and Italk to a lot of pike anglers from young lads to the old blokes in the pub who remember it covered in tyres during the war and surely over the years someone would have known of at least one coming out ?? A bit of bonus info for you aswell , one of my customers has direct dealings with one of the guys at Lichfield council and the water levels have been reduced immensely to allow for repairs to the dam wall and the powers that be are considering leaving the water levels low to allow for the wildlife and so people can walk around the shores of the pool ! This is good news for us anglers as theres alot less water to cover now maybe not good news for spawning fish though as it means less cover from all the pike
  12. One end of this pool is very deep and rocky and the fish ,if hooked , will try their dam hardest to smash your line up so uprate your end tackle !!!!!! If iremember rightly the carp go into the high teens and their is barbel and chub in here too but it can be a hard pool due to the depth You used to be able to get permits from the snack van in the layby but other people on the site have mentioned to you jody in other threads you posted on here that Blackfords is your best bet for a permit as for the price of the ticket and selectiion of venues you cant really go far wrong. Oh and if you do fish the rugeley road pools be careful along the rear bank as its full of snakes and can give you a brown trouser moment if you aint aware Westill take the pee out of my mate now as when he first saw one he screamed like a girl and proceeded to try to make his escape by running through his rods Extremely funny to us but extremely expensive for him
  13. thanks for the replys so far guys I will check that website out Welder cheers. If I have to fish a water with idiots and they spoil it by being chavs then they will get their session wrecked if they annoy me to much Its about time we took our pools back from mindless idiots I can tollerate the beer as I,ll have afew myself and if they wanna smoke weed thats ok but fires and tinny drum and bass music out of a mobile phone and thats my limit snapped and, the negotiator, will make an appearance from the boot of the car thanks again guys
  14. Hi all I am looking to fish a venue at the bank holiday within a 50 mile radius of Cannock! Does anyone know of any venues? The only things the pool needs to have is safe parking and no rowdy idots spoiling the peace. Oh and prefferably a toilet as having an Eartha Kitt in the bushes dont really do it for me ( insects and nettles ) I dont require massive fish just good doubles into the twenties will suffice. Any info would be gratefully received as in the short time I,ve posted on here I,ve learnt that some members are secretive and some are ignorant aswell too boot!! Hopefully someone can be as helpful ,as I,ve tried to be on the forum, with their knowledge . Thanks guys
  15. well if there wasnt three of us going, three cars, three lots of fuel and three lots of bait and tackle and it was,nt a hundred and odd mile round trip plus a bank holiday weekend possibly wasted, then i,d more than happily just pop up for a look!!!! Just wanted some advice from people so I dont have a dissapointing weekend if I did a session up there
