Anyone interested in Gerards near Maxey Peterborough, I have just completed the new website which also links to the blog which will be updated with catches/methods and swim info on a regular basis. We are also (depending on interest) thinking of creating a winter 2009/10 and summer 2010 carp match league. These would consist of 5 matches with a decent cash prize and 1 years syndicate membership for the winner. I've fished Partridge a few times and generally done very well, the average size seems to 5lb's but I have had them to 12.5lb and the owner has shown me some photo's of 2 seperate 20's, it not a big water so with time you should run into the bigger ones. The water is fairly clear but the fish do come tight to the margins (within a foot!). Baits which have worked well for me are paste, 12mm pellets & prawns. Visually it's a little bland and needs some foliage around it, but the owners a really nice and it's never very busy.

Last time I went it was £6 for 1 rod and £10 for 2 rods, fishery opens at 7:30 am. You can night fish, but I'm not sure how much a 24hr ticket is.

Hi JB, there a 2 lakes (call them the large & small ones). The small lake is more of a match style water. If I we're you I would fish the large lake near the island as you walk in. Fish a bait near the island and another in open water (the bottom varies in depth with lots of gullies and plateau's). Bait wise, any quality bait should do well and I usually wrap mine in paste. I caught them on paste tight into the margins, which is my favourite style of fishing with paste made from pellets, Belchallin (not sure about the spelling - but its crushed shrimp/prawn) and a pinch of salt. Everyone says its full of crayfish but I seemed to get away with it on that day, most people advise fishing with fake baits.

Thanks, good advice. At Lovells will be float fishing I will also set up a carp sleeper rod with a bright pop-up to cast around at any fishy signs.

Don't spose you got a phone number for Ross have you? I've been once to Lovells and had a 11 + 12.5lb out of the old lake in a short evening session, think everywhere is tough at the mo! (I'm just after a few bites). May try Ross as it always was prolific, what baits did you get yours on - I always used to fish near the first big tree on the corner which seemed to be a good spot for lots of smaller ones but I had bigger fish on the far left side.

I went to Rossways at Boston Sunday morning, had 6 nice roach and a couple of small perch, I did lose one good fish - which was very frustraiting as I had it on for about 10mins and the hook just pulled. I know lake Ross not fished it since the new owners have taken over (did'nt like the previous ones!). Do they have many match's on there as nearly every time I turned up I could'nt fish due to the lake being booked, would'nt mind having ago in one of there opens though. Gonna try Lovells next I think.

I know what you mean, looks very fishey don't it. I'm looking forward to get a chance to get on there. Will wait for the weather to settle.

Hi Chris, I asked the same question a few months ago as I am local to Rossways but not fished it before, like you I was after some advice. The main points I got back, it seems a fairly easy water with a variety of tactics working well from float margin work to buzzer set up's the average stamp seems to be low doubles. I have had a look down there and it's got lots of margin features and the best pegs seemed to be and either end of the lake which run parralel with the reeds. Hi Fozzy, I have'nt been this year yet to be honest I'm waiting for the weather to cheer up a-bit, don't get me wrong I'm not a summer deckchair fisherman but I don't see the point in breaking ice and sitting for hours without a bite. I been spending some time in the local tackle shop checking out baits and tackle stuff ready for when I do get out. I noticed you've got a maver 101, I brought the 151 in August last year and really like it although I've only used it a few times had carp to 12lb on it with no problems. Cheers

I would stick with Lonsdale, I'm going again this year in March which is the early in the year for me but is the only time I can afford it now Have a good time wherever you go though
