    Hair rigs

Ah that was my question is it better to use braid or monofilament? or is it personal preference? well there are positives and negatives to both of them from what i remember they are : braid: moves around more naturally and will go into the fishes mouth easier, but is more prone to tangling mono: less prone to tangling but moves around inthe water less natural and i think is slightly harder for the fish to pick up unless it some in at the right angle i may not be 100% right with those points but i think the stuff ive said about the braid is correct
  2. Just out of interest as i'd never heard of it until now, how would you know if weils disease was prevalent? I just googled it and it doesn't sound pleasant! You don't! Also bear in mind that Weils disease can be spread by Rats, Squirrels, Foxes, Badgers and some other mammals as well. Obviously if Rats are present and a problem you are not going to be licking your line. ohps, at the weir i fish all the time i always lick the knots and keep the boilie stops in my mouth so i dont loose them while im re baiting and there are hundreds of rats there (literally)
  3. i think rats are the main carrier of the disease, the river by me i know you have to be careful as it is present there
  4. the main knots i use for the hooklinks is a simple overhand knot for the loop to attatch to the quick link and the knotless on the hook
  5. i would suggest a running rig TBH because if you are using a bolt rig the fish knows it has been hooked and will bolt straight for snags wereas if you had a running rig then you will have more indication before the fish realises it has been caught then strike and bring it away from the snags
  6. yea will most definatly work pretty effective with braid, although isnt the hybrid hooklink supposed to have the same effect as this, ive never used it personally but im shure it is :S
  7. i think he means because shots are made for lighter lines and is asking wether split shots on a larger diameter line will damage it, and to answer this question i have never had a problem with the line being weakend when putting split shots on it
