  1. So is smoking pot but being from Byron I bet he does that too!!!! My sentiments exactly... morally who can tell anyone to kill anything???? I bet Moses was too stoned to read my previous post with info from NSW DPI!!!!
  2. Hi Guys Here we go again with the destruction of Carp debate!!!! FYI - The rules relating to Carp in NSW changed in April 2010, Carp are now classified as a Class 3 Noxious Pest... under the guidelines there is no requirement to destory a single Carp... hence feel free to release your catch without concern!!!! (see here http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/pests-diseases/noxious-fish-and-marine-vegetation/exemptions-noxious-fish) Before this time the DPI only recommended that you didn't return Carp to the water hence I never followed their recommendations!!!!! We can clearly see in one of young Thomas's pics the fish being released. (Next time deeper water Thomas) As far as his posting on website that obviously condones the senseless and immoral destruction of Carp... well that's for him to live with!!! He has certainly got time to grow and learn and decide who he is best affiliated with! Personally I would rather belong to a community thats appreciates and admires my pursuits rather than one that looks down on them and branishes Anti-Carp sentiments. Cheers PJ
  3. Hi Guys I've gotta be blessed! I've just spent the best part of the day with my four year old "Robson" fishing our local haunt. We pre-baited yesterday with maize... an activity that he always enjoys. We arrived at a Godly hour (10am) set up our gear which included our new pop-up beach shelter (to sheild us from the blistering sun... it's been 40 degrees celcius here in Sydney over the past few days) that is our portable bivvy... unfortunately it's not green but it can be set up in 10 seconds so what the heck!!! After a encounter from the local constablilary (I thought they were a bunch of young guys about to knock of my van till they pulled out their badges) and a visit to the bankside from Robson's Nan and Grandad with cooling icecreams... we fished on for approximately six hours without a whinge or moan!!! We missed a blistering run while Nan and Grandad watched on and managed to loose a bite alarm in the process... it was already slightly broken near the screw thread and upon striking at the run, it launched itself of my buzz bar and landed about eight feet into my swim!!!! The session produced only one small fish of about 8lbs but the photos that it produced are priceless. I absolutely love the admiration shots... these were not prompted... I just kept snapping as he handled the fish for the camera!!!! Cheers PJ
  4. Hi Guys For those who haven't stumbled onto the Aussie section of Carp.com an Aussie carping milestone has been achieved by chris_the_lad who in September 2010 landed what is possibly the largest Carp to date in Oz. Well done Chris!!! As a result of this I today penned the latest installment of PJ's Poetry to celebrate this, I hope you enjoy it!!! I know it's been a while but the juices have to flow!!! To see Chris's achievement see here: Chris's 43 pounder Forty Three Pounds of Dedication There’s this bloke you see, We know as Chris the Lad, Yes, they’re in there, And they’re there to be had! So for what seemed like forever, He would sit, watch and wait, Tempting and taming them, Free offerings… pre-bait. Finally he starts, This, his Sydney campaign, “Blanked again today!” he’d think More a prayer, than to complain. And so he invests, His blood, sweat and tears, Over six hundred hours! “Will I ever?” he fears. Amongst all the activity, Duck feeding, noisy picnics… He sits and contemplates, Behind his Banksticks. Then early in September, In the year Twenty Ten, His patience rewarded, As his buzzer sounds again. With his size six set, And his twelve pound straining, The challenge at hand, Might leave some explaining. But after nearly an hour, He guides her gently in, Only now can he see, The size of that fin! And now as he poses, With his proud picture taken, A new Aussie record! Forty Three Pounds of Dedication! Cheers PJ
  5. Legends don't get embarrassed and you mate are in the Aussie book of Legendness. Thought a few words poignantly put together were deserved!!!

  8. Well done Chris!!! Saw this on Niblets Blog and was very impressed!!! Not just by the size and look but the effort involved!!! I've been out to that water an sussed it out... very hard to fish... weedy... but a beautiful hole to fish!!! How deep is it??? I didn't realise you'd move... last we spoke you were in Canberra... are you in Sydney to stay??? Be nice to catch up for a sesh if your up to it!!! Cheers PJ PS. We have someting in common that I only just learned... will enlighten you via PM!!!
  9. I'd have to agree with adam_v, I enjoyed it too!!! I saw series 1 from internet downloads and thought old Robson was abit OTT but then I'd have been too, if I was catching the bloody fish he was, in the situations he was in!!!! HEAVEN ON EARTH!!!!!! Saw some of series 2 the other day and thought he'd toned it down abit!!! What needs to be considered is that fishing is not all about catch and release and some folk actually fish to eat!!! Hence I've got no problems with him showing fish caught using a bow and arrow if it's going to be consumed... on the other hand killing fish for just the sake of it is another thing all together!!! Maybe he should pre-warn especially British viewers that his program shows the killing of some fish???? You can then decide whether you watch or not!!!
  10. Hi Guys (and Gals) I've got a question for you... What is it that turns us into a fishermen/women??? What is your experience??? I was about 6 or 7 when my Dad first took me fishing in a canal in the West Midlands... he wasn't then and still isn't really an avid fisherman but I was hooked from the first little black Gudgeon that I slid into my hand. It's not many days that I don't think about fishing in some shape or form!!!! I've started taking my boy Robson fishing with me and although he's too small to handle the rod he will sit for about 6 hours before he gets bored and wants to go home... this was our lastest outting to our local creek in Australia, I even got him to hold the catch for a pic this time Cheers PJ
  11. Hey Scotty This is probably the first time I've raise hairs with my verses!!!! Cheers for your sentiments PJ
  12. Mate good to hear from you!!! Can't wait for another session at Christmas... I'll prebait for afew days and get the [censored]s (didn't realise this word was offensive these days... begins with B... has two g's in it and ends with s!!!!lol) chewing!!!! Maybe this time you'll have time to do a prawning sesh too!!! Hope all is going well for the World Carp Classic 2010!!! Glad you enjoyed this latest effort!!! PJ
