  1. Sounds like a decent plan to me hope you catch.
  2. I've only fished it twice mate but I did catch both times. Don't be afraid of fishing in the weed put a pva bag on and let it rest on top. Always cast to a showing fish, I've seen a lot caught this way, sometimes even before the rods gone back in the rests. Obviously on a day ticket lake like this most fish are caught on the cell but I didn't use it and I caught so the choice is yours bait wise. Other than that I don't know much else but the staff in the shop are generally quite helpful. Good luck
  3. Most of the bottom is low level weed, but there is a gravel bar running from the end nearest the A1 through most of the lake.
  4. Which lake are you fishing at Manor Farm Terry?
  5. A club lake I was fishing in the summer had horrendous weed growth, so much so that in an angling club of 650 members I would quite often be the only one fishing it all weekend because people were put off by the weed. The best way to combat it was a solid PVA bag with a few hookbaits in and a PVA nugget on the hook to protect the point. I used to use a small bag and leave a little bit of air in to allow it to sink slowly and settle on the weed. If the weed in your lake is very low it will flatten it down a bit leaving your hookbait and freebies sitting on top.
  6. Hi Esmin, congrats on the big 100. Sorry I live too far away to help but be a bit careful who you arrange to meet up with. I'm sure most of the members on here are ok but a lot of guests read the forum too and you never know. Stay safe and good luck.
  7. I've been using mo's pva for a long time now and I would reccomend his bags highly, far superior to many others on the market.
  8. Not fished the Hiz but I have walked the banks at Henlow Bridge and seen a few decent perch in there. I haven't ever seen anybody fish it either so you will have no trouble getting a swim.
  9. Au Martin Pesheur 2 Place de la Republique 49400- Saumer 0033 2 41 51 29 19 Give this man a ring and He'll give you any information you need.
  10. I would agree with Liam on this one, I think if your rigs are working stick with them. I've never been keen on the chod rig for various reasons, I think the fish can lose the baited hook really easily and they can do it without giving any indication on the buzzers. A lead clip with a longer hook link works well in silt or chod and gives much better hooking and indication. Try to find out how deep the silt is by tying a bit of white wool on the lead and along the line and cast it into the silt. if you leave it in there for about 10 minutes it will stain the wool and tell you how deep it is then you can adjust your hooklength accordingly.
  11. Thanks mate, I've already been on the website and I have been emailing Gordon. I'm hoping to have a look round in the next few weeks. I've since found out an old mate of mine has been fishing it and had a heads up on how difficult it is but to be honest that's how I like to fish, hard going but big rewards when you hook one.
  12. Is anybody fishing on the St Ives complex at the moment? I'm looking to get on there in April time and was after any info. Not bait and rig info, I'll go in with my own bait and suit the rigs to different situations/ lake beds but any other helpful stuff about the various lakes.
  13. Not 100% sure which one you mean but I know about two of them. The first lake on the left as you go under the A6 towards Milton Keynes is a season ticket lake that Letchworth angling club has just got the rights to fish and is shared with Verulam angling and the Met police. It holds about 400+ carp up to 24lb. The second lake is owned by the same person and is a catfish water with cats to 78lb. It is expensive though costing £250 per weekend or £500 for a week.
  14. Caught a 16 pounder on a foam banana sweet at centre parcs two months ago, after word got round the lake the shop sold out of every type of floating sweet they had
  15. It tends to be the carrier for the flavour that repels fish if in high quantities so chances are they will be to strong. Try making your own dips with essential oils or natural flavours & it will be ok to soak them.
