I have tried the boilies and only ever had one and the canals i have heard of carp coming out over 40lb and seen pictures from a friend of carp in the upper 30's. They do stock the canals a lot with carp over here but i am a pond or lake fisherman myself i have no selfbelief when trying the canals.

Well over here in north holland where i fish the waters are not fished on alot so most of the carp have never seen a boilie so i look who fishes there and what they use and 9 times out of 10 sweetcorn does the trick with groundbait.

If it's carp you're after you can't go wrong with trying the canals in holland there full of carp. Andrew

I have only fished in groningen myself so i cant comment on where you want to fish sorry. But up here in the north the fishing is great.

I understand what you mean by wanting a big fish but going on holiday is about relaxing a little sight seeing and maybe if ur lucky catch a few big carp thats what my holiday would be like but its everyone to there own

It Depends on what part of holland you want to fish. I live in the northern part and the fishing is great. There is only one place i know of that you have to pay for carp fishing the rest are free and i have caught some nice fish from these free places. Also i have stated in another part of this forum where i live in a 10 mile radius i have choice of at least 50 ponds....lakes.....canals and rivers where i can fish for carp. I live in holland and fished here for a year and never been robbed and where i live there are at least 50 ponds in a 10 mile radius all with carp in some going upto 30lbs. And another bonus where i live is all you need is your yearly fishing permit no day ticket only one pond charges. Also for carp in holland you can fish all year round and night fish. Grtzz Andrew
