  1. Hi Guys Ill try and Upload an 1888 Map and a modern Map of the pigs then merge the 2 - You can clearly see where the old river once flowed - Invaluable info!! Can a moderator give me a tip on uploading an Image???
  2. Nice One Ginger Pike - Were the Carp showing theigs end or the far end??/ I might have a go sat depending on the Sun?
  3. 777 - Birchmoor operate that bank - Direct enquiries to the respectful working mens club. A local Tackle shop should have the details tel etc... Maybe see you there..?
  4. Cheers Pineapple Lamb have silly rules when I last enquired 1 rod Etc plus quite pricey at 60.00 per year I think. Not bad if your going regulary tho.... Ill give Kevin at Tam tackle a d=shout and see what the crack is now...I hear those Lamb waters are tough? Adds to the challege mind.
  5. Sure I remember those Pics too from years ago - There were some huge fish pictured on the wall! I personally only ever carp fished it once - I had a Run off what felt like a train before my hook pulled! That was a while ago 8-9 Years ago - This year ill be having a proper campaign. By the way the pub still sells tickets only for thier section - River mouth to the fence on thier border. I heard it was a fiver a day there and they throw a brekkie in!
  6. Sure reading and getting inspired is one thing! But with me my day off spent to using those new found methods and baits is swiftly met with an Anti climax! Pity you didnt fish in Africa. A photo of a Mahseer on your wall would have looked cool!
  7. The Pallatrax steamlink has been great for me - Very easy to get on with and stiff. The perfect hinged rig everytime! Ive used others Snakebite for example - I'll vote pallatrax every time as its more versatile and looks more natural due to the clear coating than snakebite whiuch lends itself to weedy areas.
  8. Have cracking time in Gambia Jason! Your not far from Nile Perch (Mahseer) territory and Victoria Lake etc. So your changing your boilees for a fist size dollop of dough eh? Enjoy it and Ill see you around.. Alright for some:-)!!!
  9. Nice One Jason Are you reffering to the River near the Pub? Ive fished that a lot for roach and done well. Its deep there to around 6-8 Ft. Is it that River mouth or the opposite end? You might know about the topography maybe - I heard that the lake formed through subsidence when the mines below collapsed meaning the river burst its banks and floodwater took over? Id reckon the original river would follow the far bank opposite the pub - am i right? A lot of guys fish it near the centre towards a dead tree sticking oput the water. Is that a good area? Last question now - Are those Cov pools worth a go - have you heard of shoals of carp in abundance in there more recently? Ill join the lamb too if theres some evidence of that... Itll be cool to have all that on my doorstep!
  10. Thanks Jason - i live right on the pigs virtually and Im soon getting a mate of mine to ldge at my house - He 's carp fisdhing bonkers too and It was the pigs pool and surrtounding areas that sold my room to him! Were gonna try a session or two over the next month or so on some of his home made baits that have been working really well lately. jUST WAITING FOR A WARMER spell. Where else do you get with the Birchmoor ticket matey:-)
  11. Nice one Zip - Those pools do look good - I have took a few walks around there and ive seen pike striking and a dead pile in doubler figures. So your sayingthat it produced loads of Carp year ago eh? Ive spoke with chaps down there and theyve all said that theres afew in there . I hear the lamb operatew a silly 1 rod rule though- Doh!
  12. Alright there lad's , a little off subject but just wondering if any of you lot fishing the pig's know anything about the old coventry pools?....Do the fish move from lake to lake via the river?...I was told a long time ago that there were some big fish in these pool's..Fished them myself about 12yr's ago all i found was large shoals of low-double commons and I mean large shoals.... Allo Ziplead Are you on abour=t the pools ustream of the bigs that the Anker Runs through? If so Id be interested ijn Carp fishing that too. Whereabouts on there wre the fish showing? I hear the lamb own a bit there too ?
  13. I dont doubt what your saying Jason - But you'd think a huge place like that with a relatively low head of carp would benefit from prebaiting. Then again - If youve got someone sat in your spot - Theres no point - I never noticed it getting so busy with carp anglers except at the far end at night. I was thinking about maybe prebaiting an area that noone could get to over say a month or so? Can you get a birchmore ticket off Kev at tam'th tackle? How much? Where else can you go on that ticket - Maybe parts of the lakes upstream?

  15. Nice one Jason I live 2 min walk from the pigs so this'll be good info. Ive always done well by the Pigs river on the stick and pike - Never really started to carp fish iot though., Id reckon a pre season prebaiting campaign in some likely spots should do the trick.... Thanks again..
  16. Thanks Jason What are the best areas? Thisll help me know which season ticket to buy. Also what came out in total between the lot of you over the 14 days?
  17. Cheers Jason, What areas are best - Ill then look to find out which club to join? PS how many came out in total between all you guys over the 4 nights?
