Thanks for the info woods_1985, to be honest mate i'm the sort of guy that doesn't mind putting the time in to catch a decent (size or looking) fish so i think i will end up fishing pits 5 and 6, wouldn't mind getting that two-tone gracing my net. You wouldn't by any chance know how big pits 5 and 6 are would you?

Thought i would bring this thread back up instead of Writing up another one. Has anybody fished this place recently?, Im looking for a new challenge but have no information on the size of the pits or fish stock. i've checked their website however my membership activation email has not come through yet so i cannot access all of it. GlenW if you went how did you get on?

fished it in february last year. wasn't very productive at all and i went thinking it was £15 a night from the phone call when i booked it, only to be told on arrival that they had put the prices upto £20 a night on pond 2, The owner however after a conversation decided to only charge the £15 a night in the end. the guys a nice bloke who runs the tackle shop, offered him the full price for some popups and he knocked some money off. The place fished rubbsh at the time i was there but i have known of weekends the on pond 2 where 20 x 20lb carp have ome out. i made the mistake of booking the wrong peg and ended up on a peg around 2 - 3 foot shallow and for february it wasn't the best of pegs to end up with,its very pressured there but well worth a go in my opinion.

i have got 4 of them but havent used them yet, il just have to keep checking that the lead comes free. i have got the safezone leaders with the swivels on and they are very thin leaders. do you think it was the leader that was the problem then or could it have been the swivel to big for the insert?

any online tackle shop that stocks korda tackle will sell them, or you could try your local tackle shop

i do buy the korda safezone leaders but at the moment the fox ones seem abit of a bargain

im looking at buying some myself, as tony mentioned korda and fox sell them and im probably going to get the fox ones, because you get 3 for £5 whereas korda charge £5 for one.

Just a hint mate,don't mix and match companies components unless your confident because you could end up creating an extremely dangerous rig. Plenty of reasonably priced complete kits. i dont think it matters using leads with a different companies setup components, not every company sells there own leads. but as for other setup components like lead clips, rig beads and rig tubing i agree with what tony said. i use atomic leads and fox / korda/ esp components.

i dont think he uses a rig on the end of his lead so its still set up helicopter style, it will still work with an inline lead its just using an inline lead will mean he has to tie his mainline to a swivel or kwik link, this way his line passes through it for attachments (maybe pva bags as stoogi said) it will still work allthough if it was me i would just use a lead with a swivel on as i have been taught.

in this months carp talk a guy had an 11 fish catch with the biggest being a 46lb mirror, using pva bags filled with maggots. so from what everyone has said and judging by the catch reports it looks like maggots are definately the way to go.

my mates had very good results on esp stripteaze but i prefer using gardner suffix hooklink materials such as camo skin, heavy skin and black stealth. the above 3 have proven themselves for me

i sometimes tie a loop in the end of my rig so i can pull the hooklink through pva sticks and connect a stik clip with a swivel on, to my mainline / leadcore. the swivel then allows my rig to rotate incase the carp rolls.

i use kordas wide gapes and longshanks but im also a fan of the fox series 4 and series 5 hooks

i think sufix 'camo skin' and 'kameleon' are good hooklinks. they are coated braids but are very good for hinged rigs. but for a heavy hooklink you could try sufix heavy skin.

matt hayes used it on an episode of lake escapes in italy and he caught on it. he also caught on a whole strawberry on the hair.

zebb i live in the outskirts of hull and the only two lakes i know of are rainbow lake and newbridge, they are both right next to each other and they are in burstwick. i know plenty of ponds but they are the only two lakes i have fished, my mates dixons on here knows plenty more though

has anyone seen the camo corn from enterprise tackle? it looks quite good for a silty bottom
