  1. Hi, fished there quite a bit but about 5 years ago. i wouldn't say the lake is easy although if you put the work in keep your eyes open and mobile you should do ok. The lake does get busy but the lads used to be a great bunch so have a chat when you start to see some anglers. I found the Cadmore lane end to be busier, balifs swim for example is never free as well as the bench swim. the carp tend to congregate in the out of bounds and move out to the islands and some get caught. Don't ignore the point swim had my pb from there and that end of the lake is usually quieter. The fish get down there to spawn when the waters right however there are always fish down there. thinking of getting back on there to finish some business, had a fish called Moonscale at 4oz under 40 has since done 40 and also Baby Bazil at 39 believe he has done 44. pm me if you need any further info DB
  2. Cant agree more used the esp leadcore for ages and im convinced it makes a difference to my fishing. I also like the way it gives me a few angles to tryrig wise such as the chod rig or more standard helicopter rig where i can move my hooklink up and down the leader.
  3. if fishing a weedy water then the whole rig can be improved by putting a link on your lead like you would a marker float to a swivel or a run rig and then thread that onto your main line with a shock bed to your hooklink this allows the rig to rise and not get clogged up with weed.
  4. swithched over to the carp r us nailers in sixe 8 fished with a decent hair comming off a small ring by the bend in the hook. Only prob had no carp but nailed 10 bream to 10 ponunds and a 8 pound tench smack bang in the bottom lip. Given me some confidence, off to a new water now to try my luck hard life isnt it.
  5. best way to learn is either ask someone you know or find a decent tackle shop and ask them to show you. leadcore is pukka stuff and i use it all the time but you need to be careful when tying it as i have seen terrible death rigs left in fish that were lucky to still be swimming.
  6. going in a bit for a couple of nights armed with loads mor e bait to put in alredy got some alternatives tied up see how we get on today. Makes me wonder the last lake i fished was so snaggy as soon as you had a run you had to just bully th fish into the net if it come off that was bad luck. the fish i lost i let them run might lift into the fish a little harder this time and give em less and see what happens.
  7. same as me fish absolutley ripped off but kept steady pressure on it brought it back in about 80 or so yards to the net where it fell off good fish as well. did hear about some dodgy batches of them but thought that was a while ago you do get hook pulls but 2 in a row was a sod think i might give the seres 5 ago.
  8. iv got boilies that have been soking in various dips for years. I have a few different coulr singles and some bottom baits soaking in different flavours. The key to remember is natrual ingriedients are hard to overdose i use csl minamino and a small amount of the chosen flavor only 2-3 ml. if your looking for a dip just to put baits in before you cast out then go for a stronger level as the baits will wash off quicker leaving you with the flavour around the hookbait and in the water coloum.
  9. try doing something different with your lead setup. if casting distance is not a n issue use use heavy leads or really light. Alternativley can use leads on a running settup with slack lines allowing fish to move away with a bait before he realises he has been done. leave the rigs until very thing else has been tried i spent a ot of time messing about with rigs until i got the carp feeding confidently over my bait and then the rest fell into place.
  10. Fished a new lake this week which is considered fairly hard and had two takes in my first few hours only prob both fell off. Used the trusty korda wide gapes in 6 for snowman and 8 for single baits, both rigs were fine when i brought them back hooks sharp not tangled. Have used the wide gapes for uk fish over 40 pounds and never had a prob. using 2 oz leads so might step up to 4's. Also thinking if pressured fish may have harder moths so might go back to fangs of fox series 5. Any ideas as gutted at lossing 2 good fish in a row.
  11. either can bury hook if float fishing but have to strike to set the hook, have hair rigged before messy job tho went with mrs once and she nearly passed out when i showed her the bait.
  12. Had a 21 common on a haribo, believe it was a tangfastic, was taking the mikey at the time and then the rod tore off, what a result. Had loads on slugs whilst stalking, just pick em up out the garden and present to a carp in the margins without doubt the most instant bait that i have ever used..
