  1. I'm bringing 7-8lb of sausage, 4lb of bacon, 6 or 7 black puds, a dozen or so eggs and tinned tomatoes for us all for breakfasts :) Do we get the use of the lodge again for cooking/drinking purposes?

I should be over around 15.30-ish on the Friday, so if someone fancies saving me a swim on the West (i.e. warm) bank it'd be much appreciated! (sod watercraft, i don't want to freeze!!)

  2. It's a travel diary by Paul Theroux of his year-long adventure across China by train in the 1980's. The book is named after one of the many trains he travels on, and provides a very in-depth view of the consequences of the changes brought about by the Cultural Revolution, as well as a very good insight into the lives and attitudes of the Chinese people. He writes well, with a highly intelligent and literate style, but also with wit, humour, warmth and emotion.

I highly recommend this book, I was unable to put it down and it provided me with a view into a world seldom seen or heard about from unbiased western eyes.

  3. Was it A1 pits that those fools had that video filmed at a while ago on here?

Nah, they were the "A1 Carp Crew" or something along those lines, and complete morons with it :evil: I recognised part of their awful video as Pool Hall in Wolvo, but they took it down too quick for me to get it confirmed with the fishery owner :(

Either way Andy, they needed shafting

It didn't go unnoticed, and as far as I'm aware there's screenshots of distinguishing tattoos etc. somewhere

  5. Never the less i think im going to go for pva bags of pellets with a single grain of popped up plastic sweetcorn, along with one with a bright yellow popup, and if the fish are showing on the surface try some zig rigs with small bits of popup foam and small hooks.

That's your problem right there mate. You're going down with pre-conceived ideas of how to fish it, which is pretty much guaranteed a cock-up! There's no way of telling before you arrive what the fish will go for!! Do some research beforehand, when you get there have a good look round, observe the fish, use the weather and temperature as a rough guide to where in the water column the fish may be. Try a different method on each rod, on different spots. Remember, you can always put more bait in, but you can't take it back out  Staying mobile is always a good plan too, especially on lakes like Brasenose where the fish tend to travel in big shoals

  6.  I know what you mean about Pool Hall, I've been down and had 7 fish in a day session, the biggest being 21lb 14oz, then blanked on there for 48hrs the next time I've been down! I've ended up taking a single rod, net, mat and bucket and fished the noddy water for an hour or so at the end of the session to bag up and cheer myself up!

I haven't fished Baggeridge for years mate, but your best bet is to go and ask down at the tackle shop in Wombourne that sells the permits for it, they'll have the best idea as to how its fishing etc.

  7. I agree with the anger, I despise litter. Its just laziness and disrespect for both the countryside and your fellow angler, and it does my head in. There's no harm in bagging it up and slinging it in the car or a bin nearby, and I've lost count of the times I've turned up to fish and ended up doing a good long litter-pick around my swim because someone else couldn't be bothered. Morons

  8. Nige, while you're in a generous mood, would you be a good chap & map my new lake out for me please?

You shouldn't have flogged that boat, an echo sounder would have saved me a lot of marker work in the future :twisted::lol:

Got the money issue out the way now too, bring on the weekend

I already know where the gravel bars & deep spots are

Not sure the weather will be on our side though :(

Yep, I had a peek at metcheck earlier, it's not going to be that pleasant. I'm going to be over about 6.30-7pm if everything is sorted by then. Gotto love setting up in the rain & dark...
