i heard rumers that carp cant survive in the lake district due to something in the hills that when it rains, and carp cant survive in it cumbrria has 1 lake but its a holiday resort .the lake district is mainly a salmon / trout and pike resort
-
tubing also sinks near your rig making it less detectable and also as mentioned prevents tangles and lifting of the scales but no you dont nead it but i like my rig concealment so id use it
-
there are instructions on how to use them at the back of most packs of shrink ......i know for a fact korda and esp doi always use it too
it's just that beginners may find it too complicated.
thats if ccc is a beginner.
which i was presuming from little knowledge of rigs.
tight lines
courtz

shrink tubing to me is essential(to me)as it helps the hook turn..more fish in the end and isnt complicated to use so i would use it
-
to start with i would get esp sink link rather than coated matirials as these nead striping steaming if they kink so its easier to start simple and work up .......plus sink link is a beast and has caught thousands of carp
-
i prefair leadcore and safe zone leaders but everyone to their own:D
-
try steaming the line that you will thread then cut the line on an angle so it slides better
-
ive said it once and ill say it again ...........deffo gamakashu long shank super sharp

combi-rigs

the hook link can be as near or far away from the lead as you need it .you can fish it right up the leader if your fishing in deep weed .the hook link is generally 3-5 inchs long when fishing pop ups the hooklink must have a curve ,the curve is important as this helps the hook spin around and catch hold of the bottom lip from what ever angle the fish approches at hope this helpsit's a helicopter rig, but with the swivel and attatching beads about 1ft away from the lead on the leader. it's good for fishing into silt on leaf debris
-
best hook link for over gravil is without a doubt ESP sink link it sinks to the contors of the lake bed and sits tight to the deck(hence the name)i would use 2-4 inch hook links as the carp seem to get hooked easier than when using long hook links as the carp find it harder to eject the bait/hook link
-
the pole.... well mono is more abraision resistant so i would use that over floro
-
i agree the mag is a rip off but i no, no rig sites
-
with lappie on this there great hooks ultra sharp
-
maxima as it is heavy in nature and its dark and blends in with the bottom well
-
may sound a silly question, but are you sure it is shrink tube & not just rig tube
if it is shrink tubing try putting it in boiling water not just in the steam
i ad a mate once oo used ig tube intead of shrink couldnt stop laughin:D oh well i put mine in boilin water then in cold water to set it if u now what i mean:p
-
yeah i agree the complicated a rig the more that can go wrong with presentation ect
-
I ALWAYS USE LONG SHANKS BECAUSE OF THE STRAIGHT POINT IT WILL CATCH HOLD QUICKER THEN ANY OTHER.
btw i would use wide gapes as pop up rig and long shank for anything but poping up the wide gapes are smaller and i would think lighter to.
i agree totally
-
when i go to a new water i go for the normal knotless knot but if that dosent work after a while i will start experimenting.
i would say you carnt go far wrong with a basic rig at a new water;)
yeah, hes right but adapt them if fishing in weed or deep silt and you should do fine

gamakatshu g point long shank amazingly sharp
