I also use Hybrid a lot, and do find it difficult to strip the coating back. The only way you can really do it is by your teeth. Not used Hybrid for long, but apparently my mate says that it used to be much softer, so they must have changed something in the coating material. To not damage the braid, I usually use the gaps between my teeth to pull the braid through - difficult to explain!
