  1. How busy was it...? Did you book in advance....?
  2. Yeah, unfortunately i can't get any time off in the week this year, so i won't be going back there again i don't think.
  3. Is this place being overfished now....? Had planned to go up last Friday night, but when i phoned to book a peg it was full...!!! Is this just a busy night, or is it always like this now...? If so, i won't be going back. It was fairly peaceful last year, i even had the place to myself a couple of times on a Friday...
  4. Probably not again this year. I'm going to try and catch my first Zander over the next few months hopefully... and i would also like to catch a 20lb Pike. Then i have to catch a double figure Barbel...!!! I reckon thats enough of a challenge for this year...!!
  5. What happened to all the posts on this thread from the last few days.....?
  6. I was meant to be there on Friday night, unfortunately i had to work late and didn't leave Cambridge until after 6pm, so i had to phone up and cancel. I had all my gear in the van ready and everything.... The 7pm thing they have is just plain stupid in my opinion... Hoping to get up there this Friday, provided i can get out of work on time...!!
  7. There are small fish in there, but not in big numbers. I have seen a few roach around the 4oz mark, and some small carp about 1lb in weight, but generally the fish are much bigger....!!
  8. Avoid the margins as well, as the family of swans will gladly eat ALL your bait, inclusing the one on your hook, as a bloke found out last time i was up there. I think the weather might be a change for the better, as the fish have been acting quite strangely recently. As mentioned above, they may get their heads down and start feeding properly again...
  9. There is a post in the 'UK Carp Fishing section' on this forum about the fish spawning again. I mentioned that i thought this was happening on Six Islands. The certainly seemed preoccupied with something.... I also noticed that there were a number of very small carp in there, all about a pound in weight. I saw a few of these cruising around on the surface, and spoke to some other people about them. Rumours are that some idiots fished one of the other lakes a few weeks back and then chucked their catch into Six Islands.... Not sure why they would do that, but i wish they hadn't. I can see them coming out in a couple of years as 4 pounders, which isn't what you go there to catch...!!
  10. I just got back from a 2 day session there. Had 7 cats and 1 carp. It was really dead last night, the only fish that came out was a single cat that i caught at about 3 am. There were a lot of people on for a midweek, 8 others i think, and they all blanked, so i didn't do too badly.
  11. Yeah, i wouldn't be too disheartened about last night. The weather was really weird, and i reckon it definitely had an effect on the fish. I didn't get a single bleep between 2am and 6am, which is usually when the bobbins are constantly twitching. [/img]
  12. Andy, save some fish for the rest of us..!! Hoping to get over there this Friday for a night.
  13. Sorry mate, only just got in. I was using halibut boilies, straight forward bolt rig fished hard on the bottom, fishing half way down the left hand bank as you enter...
  14. Well, after 2 blanks on this water, I went down last night for a third attempt at this lake. I had the place to myself, absolutely nobody else about. I caught my personal best carp, at 31 lb 8 oz, it was also my first 30....!!! Well chuffed with that, and i also caught 4 catfish, the biggest was 18 lb.
  15. There was only 1 other person on, and he was packing up. He had 2 catfish. There were no people booked in for tonight either. I fished along the right hand side, to the right of the airator as you approach the lake. About half way down. There were a lot of fish moving there when i arrived, and the wind was blowing from the east. Unfortunately a couple of hours later the wind had switched round and was coming from the west, and I saw very few signs of fish after that.... I tried halibut pellets, odyssey xxx boilies, standard bolt rigs, pop ups, zig rigs, snowman etc, and had nothing. The other guy who caught a couple of catfish was using halibut flavoured boilies, about half way along the left hand bank, to the left of the airator. Good luck if you go, hope you get less rain that we got...!!
