Patos is bang on there mate.The definate up rate would be the move to 15lb line.I don't know of any fisheries in France that would let you use 10lb,most state 15 as a minimum.Hook's wise i can recommend nash fang's in 4's or 6's as they are a really strong hook and have never let me down.Where about's are you going too???

If you crimp down the barb on a hook,test it through a cloth (your t shirt or something)if it can past through without pulling or snagging.....job's a good 'un Most hook's are available in a barbless form,if you have a particular barbed pattern you like take 1 with you to your local tackle shop and find a similar pattern

Nash fangs and ESP stiff rigger's for me

The blow back element has very little to do with the overal length of the rig.Ive had load's of success using very short rig's placed inside PVA bag's using all sort's of rig variations

i've just been cating anywherei couldn't be bothered with featue finding butis it better if i cast to an island? Perhaps you would up your catch rate if you could be bothered?!? I think it's strange that after saying something like that you can get firstly frustrated by not catching then asking for advice.If you were eating round a friends house and you were stod outside and he said "your dinner's in there mate" where would you rather find it,on the table or in the loft?!?!?! I know that sound's a bit silly but do you get the point? The most successful angler's are the ones that can be bothered especially when it comes to feature's and fish finding.All the best mate
