  1. I've got issues 1-50 in mint condition of Carpworld, how much do you reckon they might be worth? Not selling them, just want to put a value on them.
  2. was only making the point that in some lakes you can get plagued by pike if you use it
  3. Pva presentation (also found in packing) foam will stop tangles, only problem with using it with braid is that the bait will drop right on the lead after the foam has melted, so a coated braid hooklink is better as the bait is kicked away from the lead after melting.
  4. Why stop at 2? have every different bait from your spod mix on a hair.
  5. 8 swivels for £3.99... no ta;)
  6. They sound like a bit of a gimmick to me, but if they are the same price as anyone elses swivels then why not have ones with bearings in them. If they are more expensive, then I wouldn't bother, because I get on fine with most swivels.
  7. Don't do much surface fishing myself, but I like the look of the TF Gear Surface Missiles:
  8. Dunno, but probably designed to be coloured yourself, I would think;)
  9. Thanks for the info Nick:cool:
  10. Does the ESP leadcore come in different colours i.e. brown or green?
  11. Is it a lot cheaper to splice your own? cos in the main, the pre spliced ones are only a couple of quid.
  12. I have had pretied ones from Trakker before tho' that the loop has come undone.
  13. Can anyone show me, with diagrams etc..., how to splice leadcore? I have seen instructions before in a mag but I don't know if I was reading it right, but the loop that was made couldn't possibly be strong enough to hold a fish on.

  15. Very weak wire, and a terrible shape... they are pretty sharp tho', I'll give them that.
  16. Used to use them about 15 years ago. But only because I went into the local rip-off tackle dealer and asked for a barbless carp hook, he said they were the only ones he had (lying git, just wanted to flog the rubbish stuff that he couldn't sell to anyone with a bit of experience, to a beginner). They are absolute crap as a carp hook compared to most other carp hooks.
  17. Bloody awful hooks!!! although I did catch a few pasties with them when I was using them.
  18. yeah right:rolleyes:
  19. The normal ones used to come in a little clear plastic box with a blue label on it. But I haven't used them for about 15 years, so they may have changed.

    Carp Hooks

You wanna try ESP Raptors then mate, they are sharp but the hook point will blunt on soft silt.
  21. Have a look at this mate: http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/rigs/carprigs.htm Knots are obviously the most important part, learn the Grinner, Palomar and Knotless Knot, learning these will give you enough knowledge to tie an effective carp rig. Do a search on google for 'carp rigs' to find more. Ohh, and learn a good loop knot too.
  22. I would never buy/use a pre-tied rig from anyone. I just wouldn't feel that I had caught the fish. Also it's so easy to tie a simple rig that will catch ANY carp, so unless you have (like my mate) one arm, and can't tie them yourself, why bother. What happens if you blunt a hook and don't have a replacement rig? do you just go home, even tho' you may have paid upto £30 for a 24 hr session?
  23. Your fingernails... on a normal knotless knot arangement, I srip about 6-7 inches of coating off before tying the hook on, although it doesn't have to be perfect because you can strip a bit more after you have tied it, if required.
  24. I use Wychwood Sinking Fly Leader in 10lb BS. Dunno why I use the sinking version, apart from, it's the only thing I have in my tacklebox thats suitable.
