  1. I prefer not to use either, i find that on the waters i fish that when you use silicone the carp can use it as an anchor point to blow the bait out of their mouth and rig rings aren't much better, i especially seem to get a few tangles and sometimes having the bait impaled on the hook when i reel in, and when you leave your baits out for anything up to 48 hours this can extract the urine a bit. all i use is a longish (around 3mm from the bait to the bend of the hook) supple hair and to stop tangles i tie the hair to the shank of the hook with pva tape or string.
  2. well if you couldn't be bothered to put effort into your fishing then i can't be bothered to help you! if anyone has seen my thread in non-carp titled "beginners forum" then this is a perfect example, what mcdunners is asking are questions that he should know through common sense or they are only going to come through his own experience. and even if we can answer them, from past threads that he has posted it seems to me that he is taking none of it in. waste of time and wrist cramp........ rant over!
  3. if you try and find a spot that is a little softer than the rest of the lake that could work, the carp would feel more comfortable feeding on a spot like that as they can get their heads right down in it, this would also make presentation easier as the carp would cloud up the water and give your rig a bit more camoflage. i'd try a critically balanced bait which wouldnt sink into the soft stuff or get covered up by the suspended particles as they settle back down. hope this helps;)
