I am a member of verulam angling club in St Albans, only just joined but lots of waters and seems good so far.

Thanks for the replies. I am looking for something that is going to give good sport but have an element of a challenge to it, so it sounds about right. I will just start off with basic tactics and baits and see where I go from there!!!

Where would you recommend in Herts, I am in Welwyn Garden and looking for something relatively close and preferably a members lake? I have not fished for a few years and want to get back into it. I have fished the usual - Holwell Hyde and Court, Stanborough, Bayford. Will likely only be once or twice a month so not going to be pre-baiting or any of the sorts. Any reason for not looking at Smallford? Thanks for the help in advance.

Has anyone fished here recently? I am thinking of joining VAC and like the sound of this lake.
