A simple set up incorporating a safety rig set, 1 1/2 oz lead with rig tubing leader.

 

mono knotless knot rig, with or without shrink tubing

 

you can fish bottom baits on this rig too, but you wont need the tungsten putty to anchor a floating bait.

It doesn`t matter if it`s longer the main point is as long as it`s at least a few inches longer than the hooklink at a minimum,that is the main thing,as the pther thing it does is help protect the fish by stopping the line lifting scales,if you feel comfortable with the length that you`re using then don`t change it,just try and ensure that it`s kept pinned down,there are sinking ones but I still put a small bit of heavy metal putty on,just to be sure.
