I have heard using tubing for a couple of feet up the line from the hook is good? has anyone got anyone got any picks of lead presentation. Sorry if I sound a little thick! trees Posted February 22, 2006 Report Share Posted February 22, 2006 Depends what the lakebed is like in your particular lake... if it's deep silt, then use a helicopter set-up, otherwise get yourself some lead safety clips or some inline leads and tail rubbers. mick1396 Posted February 23, 2006 Report Share Posted February 23, 2006 The tubing should be about 4 inches longer than your hooklink as a general rule of thumb,the idea behind this is that it should reduce tangles as the hook should slide off of the tube. mick1396 Posted February 23, 2006 Report Share Posted February 23, 2006 It doesn`t matter if it`s longer the main point is as long as it`s at least a few inches longer than the hooklink at a minimum,that is the main thing,as the pther thing it does is help protect the fish by stopping the line lifting scales,if you feel comfortable with the length that you`re using then don`t change it,just try and ensure that it`s kept pinned down,there are sinking ones but I still put a small bit of heavy metal putty on,just to be sure.
