fisherflack Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 All, I have tied some rigs (standard knotless knot) with a size 8 swivel. Hows best to have the weight. I have heard using tubing for a couple of feet up the line from the hook is good? has anyone got anyone got any picks of lead presentation. Sorry if I sound a little thick! Quote
trees Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 Depends what the lakebed is like in your particular lake... if it's deep silt, then use a helicopter set-up, otherwise get yourself some lead safety clips or some inline leads and tail rubbers. Quote
courtz Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 A simple set up incorporating a safety rig set, 1 1/2 oz lead with rig tubing leader. mono knotless knot rig, with or without shrink tubing you can fish bottom baits on this rig too, but you wont need the tungsten putty to anchor a floating bait. tight lines courtz Quote
fisherflack Posted February 23, 2006 Author Report Posted February 23, 2006 This is how I have it set, with tubing up the line to the rod, is that correct? How far should the tubing go? Thanks mate Quote
mick1396 Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 The tubing should be about 4 inches longer than your hooklink as a general rule of thumb, the idea behind this is that it should reduce tangles as the hook should slide off of the tube. Quote
fisherflack Posted February 23, 2006 Author Report Posted February 23, 2006 all sounds good to me, I had mine about a foot long so will reduce it..... Quote
mick1396 Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Did you mean a foot longer than the hooklink? Quote
fisherflack Posted February 23, 2006 Author Report Posted February 23, 2006 It must be about 18" to 2" so yes I think it would be.... OOOPS Quote
mick1396 Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 It doesn`t matter if it`s longer the main point is as long as it`s at least a few inches longer than the hooklink at a minimum, that is the main thing,as the pther thing it does is help protect the fish by stopping the line lifting scales,if you feel comfortable with the length that you`re using then don`t change it,just try and ensure that it`s kept pinned down, there are sinking ones but I still put a small bit of heavy metal putty on,just to be sure. fisherflack Posted February 23, 2006 Author Report Posted February 23, 2006 would you put that on the tube? or above it? Quote
mick1396 Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 On the tube about an inch or 2 from the end, then check it in the margins to make sure it`s pinned. Quote
