why, when and where should i use a stiff link like korda hybrid or camo skin?

90% of my fishing is done with a stiff hooklength (about 6 inches long, black amnesia). My opinion is that it is less likely to tangle, more rigid under water so less likely to be rejected and miles cheaper !!!! :D . I fished with merlin and silkworm for years but would never go back to supple !! Well unless something MADE me ??!!
